Hey guys been a while since i posted last, but i need some help. Here in the next wek or so im going to send my viper off to have my paxton installed and tuned. Currently i have the DC Computer, Corsa Exhaust and hi flow cats. I live in south texas which is about 400 or so miles from houston. My question is do i send it to RSI or ART. Im very miticulous and am expecting a very clean install with lots of pride taken with the install. I have had my car for about a year and have less than 600 miles on it. I know i should drive it but unfortunately i spend more time cleaning it. Car has never seen rain. Most importantly im looking for reliability, but at the same time the most RWHP i can possibly get out of it. I also have a VEC II that will be installed along with the charger, and a digital boost gauge.

One last question, what should i expect to pay for installation and tuning?

Any help would be appreciated, and sorry for the long post.

Thank You So Much,

Joe M

I've heard nothing but great things about RSI... can't say I've seen much about ART.

Of course, in TX, there's always the H-Man...

If your in texas, hands down Dave Weaver at A R T is gauranteed to please. Dave is one sharp tuner and and you'll get what you pay for. Im sure RSI is good as well, but you will have an amazing finished product if Dave has his hands on it.

Just my 2 cents

RSI is empty. The sign is down and all desks chairs parts etc. are gone. I was by there on Monday. I did go by Hennessey and found Jason that ran RSI running the shop and overseeing the production and quality.

I lived in Houston and had all my work done by ART and David Weaver. The guys there are incredible and I would recommend them hands down. DW is the best tuner!!!!!!!!! You can't go wrong with ART.

You're not serious, how about the RSI car that recently burned to the ground. Yeah H man, please why would anyone go to him when there are multiple other tuners, heffner, UGR etc with near immaculate customer satisfaction that deserve the business. Supporting H man is about as bad as supporting Oj's new book.

I've tried a search without finding anything, so may I ask: Where in Texas is ART? What is the full name of this tuner? Thanks!

You might want to reconsider your mods. Dan Cragin has a flash available for the Paxton kitted Gen III. He also just announced a Predator like tuning device for the Gen III Viper. ( By the way, the Vec II has already been superseded by the VEC III.) You also might want to consider an A/F gauge instead of the boost gauge. As a number of VCA brethren recently said in another post, knowing what your fuel /air mixture is doing is of far more use than a boost gauge. Why don't you call Dan and discuss your situation with him. It sounds like you need to do so. Others whom you might want to talk to are Doug Levin ( located in Miami) and Mark Jorgensen at Woodhouse ( located in Blair, Nebraska).

What Bob said.

Except one thing: Tuners love to talk. But they don't get paid to just talk. Pick the shop closer to you and rather than just calling people to gather info, call the one that you are most likely to go to and talk to them and let them earn your business.

Dan's a great guy. Mark's a great guy. Doug's a great guy. But I know that if i'm calling for 'advice' that they don't make any $$$$ off of me. And they are running a business. I try to be respectful of this. Of course, my calls today were to buy stuff so they are happy.

And don't get me wrong. every one of these guys (and more!) will talk your ear off about the cars. But also remember that you aren't paying their bills when you do that.

Not trying to sound harsh. Just mentioning the 'please be considerate' line.

True story: A guy calls me up and asks me for advice about some car stuff. i forget where he got my name/number. Anyway, i get a call later from a tuner friend. and later from another. apparently this guy called up EVERYONE he could find to ask the SAME questions! only he modified the questions ever-so-slightly based on what he learned from the previous call. It gets better... he calls me back later questioning me further. 'well I called X, Y, and Z and they said blah blah blah and why did you say blah blah blah'. The irony: we all told him the same thing, but with slight variation! some of the tuners were all about selling their services while others not.

But the point is that these people have to make a living. so be considerate.

***end rant***

Joseph, Im not sure if you're post was directed towards me or not, but i have only made one call and that was to ART. I took the advice of the board and my better judgement and called scheduled a day for install and asked very limited questions. If anything I had a couple of questions on reliability and achievable horsepower. I've never been a window shopper or a barn burner. I usually no what im about to do, and react on it. Theres many business owners on here who can vouch..(DC Performance, Roe Racing, Parts Rack, etc...)

Please dont take this wrong just wanted to clearify this incase you were talking to me.

There are so many people on this board i wish i could do business with, but unfortunately i only have so much money, and im so far away from alot of you.
