THE RECENTLY ANNOUNCED NEW V-10 WILL PRODUCE 560 BHP AND 445 LBS OF TORQUE AT 8,200 RPM!!! THE CAR IS A FULL CONV AND WILL WEIGH LESS THAN 2,750 LBS!
IT IS A LITTLE BIT LONGER THAN THE CURRENT RT-10 AND THE SAME WIDTH.. 0-60 TIMES WILL BE 3.8 SECONDS OR LESS!!

IS THIS THE NEXT SRT-10??
.
.

NOOOOOO WAY!
.

.
.
.
.
.

IT IS THE NEW PORSCHE CARRERA GT STREET CAR..

IN A EARLIER POST I WONDERED WHY THE V-10 VIPER ENGINE ONLY PUT OUT 56 BHP/LITER. I THOUGHT THIS WAS A BIT ON THE LOW SIDE FOR A MODERN HI-PO ENGINE.

CLEARLY THE ENGINEERS AT PORSCHE HAVE PROVEN MY POINT.. THE NEW PORSCHE V-10 IS A NORMALLY ASPIRATED 5.5 LITER (VS.8 LITER) AND PUTS OUT 102 BHP/LITER WITH MORE TORQUE AT 8,200RPM!

SOME OF THE MEMBERS SLAMMED MY LAST POST AND SAID THAT NO CURRENT MANUFACTURER WOULD EVER PRODUCE A STREET CAR WITH OVER 500 HP!!

HOW DO YOUR FEET TASTE ?

CLEARLY THE TECHNOLLOGY IS AVAILABLE FOR AN EASY 600+ BHP 8 LITER V-10!! SHOULD WE HOLD OUR BREATH?

GRANTED THE PORSCHE WILL COST 4 TIMES MORE THAN THE SRT-10..

BUT IF THE SRT-10 HAD MERCEDES EMBLEMS OR ANY OTHER EUROPEAN BADGING (LOTUS,PORSCHE,JAGUAR,MASERATI,FERRARI,LAMBO ECT) ANYTHING OTHER THAN DODGE IT WOULD PROBABLY LIST FOR OVER $175K+!

My apologies in advance for the flame, but it's raining here and the car is at home, in its dry garage.

1: Do you live under a rock? The Porsche is very old news.
2: Do you have a visual impairment that requires the use all caps in your typing?
3: Are you really an "exec" as your nick would like us to believe? If so, at what company so I can be sure that I don't own any of your stock? The quality of your posts leave a lot to be desired.

You answered your own question:

quote:

GRANTED THE PORSCHE WILL COST 4 TIMES MORE THAN THE SRT-10..

When you drive a Viper, you are not thinking about how many horsepower per liter the engine makes. Your only thought is, HOLY SH*T, this thing is fast. Who really cares about HP per liter? When I hit the gas pedal, I want it to be a bullet. I don't care how it becomes a bullet, I just want it to be a bullet. Period. That's the whole point of owning a fast car, isn't it? My other major concern is reliability and durability. And the 8.0L is very reliable and durable, so I am as happy as a pig in mud. I guess the only other factor would be cost. And I think the 8.0L is very reasonable, considering the competition.

Could PVO push the 8.3L to 600HP? Easily. And they will if the competition requires them too. Although, I don't consider a car that cost a zillion dollars as competition.

My .02...

P.S. - One other point. Being the 8.0 - 8.3L is a low/moderate compression engine, mods can be done easily. Ask anyone that mods there viper, and another 100+ HP is only a cam + heads + exhaust away. No to mention the SC or Turbo or Nitrous options. Could you do this with a super high compression Porsche V10?

Can anyone say Uber-Dork? This guy infested Off Topic a while back and to this day still holds the "Most Obnoxious And Rapidly Flamed" award.

His ego prevents him from speaking in anything less than his huckster executive's bellow.

HOMEOWNERS INSURANCE USUALLY ONLY COVERS DAMAGE BY EXTENAL FORCES (FIRE,FLOOD,WIND,EARTHQUAKE) IF YOUR ROOF LEAKS OR THE AIR COND UNIT FAILS INSURANCE DOES NOT BUY YOU A NEW AIR UNIT OR A NEW ROOF. IT ONLY COVERS THE DAMAGE CAUSED BY THE LEAKING ROOF.WOULD YOU BUY EXPENSIVE EARTHQUAKE INSURANCE IN THE MIDWEST? OR HURRICANE COVERAGE IN SO CAL? I DOUBT IT!!

MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT THE DC EXTENDED WARRANTIES (INSURANCE) COVER THE DRIVE LINE ONLY. NOT THE TRIM OR OTHER COSMETIC ITEMS.. IF THE VIPER OWNERS WERE OF THE OPION THAT THE WAS VERY RARELY IF EVER A PROBLEM WITH THE DRIVELINE WOULD THE SPEND THE MONEY FOR INSURANCE?

DO VOLVO OWNERS SPEND THE BIG MONEY ON INSURANCE AGAINST A DRIVE LINE FAILURE? PROBABLY NOT BECAUSE IT RARELY IS AN ISSUE IN A VOLVO..

Just and FYI, one of the largest faults is just south of St. Louis. Earthquake insurance is pretty inexpensive nonetheless. There was a time a few years ago where you couldn't even buy it due to some predictions by local experts. I have earthquake insurance on my house and it is worth the peace of mind.

Could you please turn your caps lock off? It signifies yelling on internet forums. Thanks.

"There is No Replacment For Displacment"

Take that from me, I at one time was a HP-per-liter king...after sqeezing 600 HP+ out of a 3-liter twin turbo, and seeing how much work it is... i'll stick with a huge engine that makes as almost as much power STOCK, with NO aids. That porche is 2.5 liters short of a Viper, which means on the top end of modding, it will fall that much shorter on performance. Just up the Vipers compression to what a porche has, and you'll see what I mean.

Just hope the new SRT 10 doesn't totally embarrass the over priced whine and cheeze cars as bad as the GTS did with no ABS.(Car & Driver Shootout) If my goal was to buy a pure performance car and my car got its @ss kicked that bad at 25% the price, I'd go hide and cry. Oh ****, the new Viper has ABS, it will win everything now!!

Why are continueing to respond to this air head phony? Not to mention his cry for attention, all caps!

Can admin get him off the board because of his refusal to use lower case? I hope so.

Believe me, if we would all IGNORE him, he'll leave and bother others on their boards.
What a moran!!!

EXECDORK....Go to your room, and do not come out until you can find your caps lock key, and your udelete Porsche troll button. This latter button can probably be located right next to your ego inflate mechanism. We went throught the caps lock stuff with you last time. It is INCREDIBLY arrogant of you to come back in here with it on after you finally took it off, with an apology last time. And you're going to start talking about Viper reliability issues with the high roller euro trash you're hawking on Ebay. Unreliable? Arrogant? EXPENSIVE? Deutschland uber alles german car dealers? ...."Yu haf ze Porrzce kar und yu egspect ze valf train noize to not zound like ze diesel engin? Plez, dis iz a gherman kar, it ezz zupossed to zound lik zat! Dat vill be fif hundert dollarz plez."

I bet you don't yell like that when you're peeking over the hedge into Pamela Anderson's pool area.

Now grab the comb-over with one hand, yank back hard til your trap opens wide, squeeze in a whole tube of jowl-tightener cream and EXECute a flying f*** at a rolling doughnut!

That's nothing, Toyota is now talking about relaunching the Supra with a V10 in it! That would be much more of a concern than this Porsche if it came off the showroom floor with two turbos plumbed into it.

KENH- LOLOL, what would the ricers do??!?? they wouldnt even know what to do with an engine like that... Dont count on toyota doing anything like that, there is too much of a fan base to original MKIV supra, no one would want to deal with designing a whole new product line to work with a new car. On top of that, all the product makers would be clueless when it came to an engine like that.

"you mean it is SUPPOSED to have MORE than 6 cylinders??? I thought it was broke..."

I don't know...

...that Porsche sounds real good to me! There's nothing like a sweet, smooth high rpm engine! If that HP peak is at 8200, then the red line may be 8500! I think that will make the Ferrari's look lame, perhaps.

So the big question is: "Now that we all have Vipers, what's the next car higher up on the exotic/fantasy car food chain we set our sights for?"

...and there better be one, because then, we would be just like those f-body guys....

IF DC TEAMED UP WITH PORSCHE AND THEY MADE THE 200LB LIGHTER 560HP 4 CAM ENGINE. SO THAT IT COULD BE EASILY AND CLEANLY INSTALLED IN A GEN II VIPER , AND WAS NOT TO EXPENSIVE..

I BET THAT SOME OF THE SAME GUYS THAT ARE SLAMMING IT NOW WOULD BE FIRST IN LINE TO GET ONE!!!

IMAGINE A VIPER AT 8,200RPM SCREAMING DOWN THE MULSANE STRAIGHT AT OVER 200MPH.

Hi Mike,

Well, I thought it started off kinda slow, but before the annoyance started and I found myself getting more and more frustrated with every word, and I realized the silly old goat was back in full force - what did you think?

Mike,

Well, I thought it was kinda slow too, it just wasn't up to it's usual standards, but I have to say that your post was really enlightened and probably the best post I've ever read on the board!

Mike, I just want to say you're a hell of a guy!

Oh geez, now we're gonna hear this "exec" complaining that it doesn't have one of those "neato" retractible spoilers that the Jonses down the street have on their boxter. And now for a pic to add to the fire...

ONERAREVIPER,

I AGREE THAT THE VIPER HOLY SH*T! FACTOR IS GREAT! BUT IT SEEMS THAT VIRTUALLY EVERY VIPER OWNER ON THIS BOARD HAS TRIED TO INCREASE THE HP IN SOME WAY!

MORE HP IS ALWAYS BETTER! WHY DOESNT DC OFFER A HI-PO PACKAGE?
....

REGARDING RELIABILITY,

I HAVE NOTICED A FEW POSTS ABOUT OVERHEATING AND OTHER PROBLEMS. SOME WITH HUSH HUSH BUY BACKS BY DC..IF THERE WAS NO PROBLEM WITH THEM WHY IS THERE SUCH A BIG SECRET??

MY 2001 TENDS TO RUN HOT!

I ALSO KNOW THAT A VAST NUMBER OF VIPERS ARE GARAGE QUEENS WITH RIDICULOUSLY LOW MILAGE..LIKE MANY 1994-1996 CARS WITH 2,500 ORIGINAL MILES...
HOW CAN YOU DETERMINE IF A CAR IS RELIABLE IF IT IS NEVER DRIVEN?

I HAVE ALSO SEEN MANY POSTS ABOUT MANY OWNERS SENDING THE ENGINES BACK TO ARROW FOR REBUILDING.

IN TALKING WITH A NUMBER OF VIPER TECHS IT SEEMS THAT THERE ARE A FEW OTHER RELIABILITY ISSUES ON OTHER ASPECTS ON SOME OF THE VIPER MOTORS EVEN IF THEY ARE NOT ABUSED.

WHY ARE SO MANY VIPER OWNERS CONCERNED ABOUT BUYING VERY EXPENSIVE EXTENDED WARRANTIES ON CARS THAT ARE CONSIDERED RELIABLE?
