Which car are you backing? Already the ZR-1 burned the Mclaren on the road and track test .. race course..See tube again.
Anyone who has ever power shifted knows that two to three tenths are knocked off your ET and up to 3 MPH at the top.
It's okay to lose to a car that runs 10.37 @ 135 with just a tire change...

In other news: Holy **** the MP4-12c is fast
nice run in the McLaren.... <--my car...
The 12c. You may want to check out drag times, you tube, etc. I can't find a 2013 Viper running a 10 & I can't find a 12c running an 11.... I wouldn't put stock in a magazine review.
This is just one of many on the tube... (ZR1 is modified, 12c is stock)

High flow cats (only) on the 12c net 35 rwhp gain, approx 5% (depending on who's dyno you believe, 33-40 rwhp). So I'd say "just an exhaust" is a significant advantage for the ZR1.
My philosophy is its better to be informed than humiliated... Just sayin
Road and Track in my opinion is a more real world test medium.. Drag times while amusing for me has a lot of cars modified. While Road and Track cars are all stock with real world testing.
nice run in the McLaren.... <--my car...
the magazines seldom visit a real drag strip when testing the cars, it's all computer recorded data... not real world in my book....
I don't believe a ZR1 will beat a MP4-12c. Just got done running my friend's bone stock ZR1. I pull him top end of 4th gear and on. We're dead even from 60 and up in 2nd gear. I'm making 570whp/580wtq on 8lbs with water/****. Stock headers/exhaust and just a baby 2.4L Roe.

Stock ZR1 will not beat a 12C. ZR1 trap high 120s, the 12C traps mid-130s. 5 mph is quite a difference. A ZR1 with a simple pulley swap will net over 600 rwhp though, which will run door to door with the 12C.
12C traps mid-130s. I beg to differ 11.1 sec @ 129.4 mph 2012 McLaren MP4-12C First Test..Motor trend..11.4 sec @ 128.8 mph 11.4 sec @ 128.7 mph for Vette and Viper These cars are not that far off..as my original premise was that the newer Viper and Vette are a better match to the Mclaren. Subsequently the the Vette and Viper are probably faster around the track. Just saying...

No issues at all in my McLaren or GTR hot lapping them down the drag strip.... can't say the same from my experience with ZR1s and Vipers, having clutch fluid contamination and having to clean out the reservoir to get more passes at the drag strip. I used to bring a turkey baster and fluid with me to the track....
forget the magazines, I've personally run 10.3 @ 134.9 MPH in my McLaren.... I've made about 30 passes on 4 different days and the car never ran in the 11's... all in the 10's.... others have run well into the 10's as well...
I've raced a ZR1 that had exhaust at the track and from a roll and walked him easily... I also ran the Gen V Viper from a roll, same result, the McLaren is quite a bit quicker and faster...
3,118 pounds, 625HP and a DCT transmission is very hard to beat stock wise.. you better bring an Aventador to have chance, or a Veyron or better to beat it...
Do you own a Nissan GT-R? If so please read on... Nissan settles GT-R duel clutch transmission class action suit involving the launch Control system which could result in catastrophic gearbox failure and a $20,000 repair bill which was not covered under Nissan’s warranty. Remember that?
I likewise own a Vette and Viper. Track them for years and never had to use a turkey baster and or bring fluid with me to the track? Any other Viper owners have this problem?
Why forget the mags? They are a base line, and have been for years.
On the other side of the coin, I bet one can find a plethora of ZR- 1 owners personally running incredibly awesome numbers as well. Logical conclusion.
I think you guys should agree to disagree.
or he can backup up the keyboard chatter with some real world driving with his cars...
I did not mean to get you upset, each car we discussed has a strong following. In my opinion they are all awesome sport's cars. Mclaren is a fabulous car. The Vette, Viper, Ferrari 458, and a few other true sport's cars are at the top of the food chain as well.
What I am curious about is the upcoming ZR 1 and Z 06. Rumored to have a true race bread sequential manual transmission forgoing the duel clutch option. HP will be close to or over the 700 mark on the ZR 1. A am sure our beloved Viper will match or surpass the Vette.

Have you ran against the McLaren? Maybe you will walk him too.
Theres an orange one in town here in Sierra Vista, AZ. $240k car. You could make your Viper 2X faster with 1/2 the cost if you really wanted. Twin Turbos as stated before. Lucky the guy that drove it even wanted to race you in the first place.
3.2 sec 0-60 and 10.9 in the 1/4 mile. Pretty fast in stock trim. **** car.
Oh and please race in my jurisdiction next time. We've been wanting a MP4-12C Police interceptor for a while!! Pretty hard to say, "It was the other orange MP4-12C officer I swear...."
