Looks like the striping for the GTS is way better than the SRT! Then again stripes are 5K:omg:
Are those painted stripes or vinyl stripes?
If it is $5K, it must be painted stripes.
If it is vinyl, then I think you can have those for max $500 - 600.

Viper stripes have always been painted on and were always $3k. @ 5K they gotta be smoking some good stuff:rolleyes:

I think we will all be surprised how well the GTS sells.....at least initially till the newness wears off and other options become available from other mfg's. I think its obvious that SRT isnt aiming the GTS at the typical Viper owner of the past. Thats who the SRT version is for. The GTS is for those in the market for entry level exotics like the R8, Porsche Turbo etc. If the GTS is nearly as good as the hype surrounding it I think it just might do well. They are a business so they are going to try to seperate you from your money with carefully planned options lol...

I can't help but think about Lexus and how they started in the luxury segment. SRT is trying to accomplish the same thing in the performance/luxury/exotic segment with the GTS. If, like Lexus, the product is just excellent then SRT could be around for a while.

Even though the MPG figure has not been formally announced, I remember seeing a guestimate somewhere of 12/19. That means that according to the EPA schedule(which averages city 55% & Hwy 45%) the 2013 will have a $3,700 gas guzzler tax.

at least 22.5 mpg
No tax
at least 21.5, but less than 22.5 mpg
$1000
at least 20.5, but less than 21.5 mpg
$1300
at least 19.5, but less than 20.5 mpg
$1700
at least 18.5, but less than 19.5 mpg
$2100
at least 17.5, but less than 18.5 mpg
$2600
at least 16.5, but less than 17.5 mpg
$3000
at least 15.5, but less than 16.5 mpg
$3700
at least 14.5, but less than 15.5 mpg
$4500
at least 13.5, but less than 14.5 mpg
$5400
at least 12.5, but less than 13.5 mpg
$6400
less than 12.5 mpg
$7700

From what I have read, look like the stripes are vinyl but will be apply before final cleat coat.
I have touched 1 of the Gen 3 Viper with white stripes and it got a huge bump where stripes were placed.
If it is painted stripes, it would be smooth out like 1 piece of sheet panel.

You must have missed the link in the first post of this stating that the stripes are applied in the paint booth before the main body color then after the paint is cured a final clear coat is applied above it.

This differs from all prior Generations where the stripes were applied (Painted) above the main color resulting in the edge between body color and factory painted stripe or as you call it "Huge Bump".

"Racing Stripes
Individuality continues with the availability of two distinguished stripe options. The stripes are applied in the paint booth before the main body color. Only after the paint is cured, a final clear coat is applied ensuring the stripe is an integral part of the finished product. Stripes offered on the SRT Viper start on the hood, make their way over the roof panel and finish on the decklid. Equal-width stripes run the entire length of the SRT Viper GTS starting on the front fascia, gracing its hood, roof and decklid, and finishing on the rear fascia. Billet Silver, Black Venom and Gunmetal are all offered as stripe colors. Bright White body-length stripes are held exclusively for the 2013 SRT Viper GTS Launch Edition.

•SRT Stripes – SRT Viper, N/A SRT Viper GTS
◦$4,500 Billet Silver
◦$4,500 Black Venom
◦$4,500 Gunmetal
•GTS Stripes – N/A SRT Viper, SRT Viper GTS
◦$5,000 Billet Silver
◦$5,000 Black Venom
◦$5,000 Gunmetal
◦Bright White (Launch Edition only)

Agree seems with the GTS, and all it's upgrades, they are trying to find new buyers from the competitive set. Not an easy task at this price point when your heritage says Dodge. Not sure what the sales plan mix target for GTS is but I think the 6 speed manual is going to turn off the R8, Porsche Turbo, etc cross shoppers.

Alcantara is a synthetic suede material, so what part of the seat is made from this stuff and what part is the Nappa leather. I wonder

Yeah, they are going to need a DCT in the future to really go after that segment. If it sells well I'm sure the budget just might include a DCT in the future.

Nine Ball- The weight difference is also in the rotors. And I've been wanting to point something out to you that I noticed about the aftermarket wheels. It seems SRT has done something special because even the ADV-SL series aren't lighter than the forged wheels that come with the Gen IV ACR (based on the weight list on their website). Now SRT has claimed lighter wheels than ever at the unveiling. With the Gen IV ACR wheels at 17 lbs front and 23 lbs rear, and the trak pak wheels potentially lighter, where do you plan on matching that, let alone besting it in the aftermarket?

The ACR and these new wheels are likely just rotary forged wheels. This means a pressure cast aluminum spoke section, and rotary forged barrels. Those weights you posted are about the same as the Forgestar wheels I sell for $1550/set in 19s. Those are also rotary forged wheels. The 18x10 typically weigh about 18 lbs. Info here:
http://forums.viperclub.org/threads...y-to-ship.-19-19-and-19-20-for-all-gen-Vipers

The lightest wheels would be 1-piece forged monoblock wheels, such as the HRE P40 series. Those weigh about 2-3 lbs less than rotary forged wheels of the same size.

Wrong,
Maybe thats how it's done on a vette. With Vipers, if done at the factory (prefix actually), the stripes are painted on. Yes it's raised, and yes they are painted. Was a $3300 option on my Gen 4.

Hmmm
Remember this post?

There are so many little birdies out there over the last few months, that the only thing anyone can believe is that the *** is being stirred with anticipation. My little birdie , who also is very, very close to Ralph about split a gut when he heard of the 136K pricing. We picked him up off the floor and gotta believe he wasn't laughing because he thought the price was a reality. I personally commend SRT , as they have been the quietest about this machine over any model I can remember and it has done nothing but drive interest at very little cost.

My guesstimate is the price will go up just a bit, but the option list will increase even more. No little birdies or anyone else has told me a thing, but common sense tells us all that over the past 3 years we have seen a dramatic change in how one could get a Viper. With more models, more paint , more options, the days of 3 colors and identical upgrades are over. We will see more and more Vipers very distinct as the way they are optioned will make them more personal. The rumors of Carbon Fiber and other items have everyone in such a frenzy , it conjures up ideas of 2900 lb cars with prodigious hp. Like one comment, I would take a new Snake with less weight and a small increase of HP over one that was just all HP increase ( it is a torque monster anyway as we all forget). The torque curve will tell me alot more , as this is where the Viper has always shined , almost to the point that we don't even bring it up too much ,as we know it is our advantage over other makes.

Whether birdies are singing or squawking , it does appear to keep things interesting, and when AllPar is searching for information so hard it takes it off of rumors on this site, it bodes well that SRT has done a great job staying silent and building demand. Does it make you want to go to New York to see for yourself --- dang it does for me and I plan on making the trip.

Overheard Ralph suggesting a 3699 upgraded interior and wondering if folks would buy it, while off in a corner of the room , finishing his 14th Coors light, Bubba was heard saying, " Damn, I heard Ralph say something about the car being 136,999 with a nicer interior." Let the rumor begin.............................

So hows your little birdie's gut now? $135,000+ for a launch edition...pretty close to $137,000.

Looking at the options list, there is no question that there will be very few Vipers that are identical out there. That has been the case in the past but with the this extended list I can see more and more of the 1/1 and 1/2's being made. This approach will make for some unique cars and I like that fact.

It will also make it harder for the guys in the secondary market getting exactly what they want in a used car when they become available down the road. You will pretty much have to pick up whats available as opposed to holding out for the combo/options you are wanting.

The one thing that I find a bit disappointing are the colors choices. Just not enough bright colors. To many dark tones that appear very similar. I would have liked to see a SSG version and Orange as well. Those vivid colors are just incredible looking on the Viper body. Makes them stand out even more.

Having said that.......the White one is definitely a really strong color on this new Generation body.

More options to come? The Carbon Fiber Interior Styling Group and the Carbon Fiber Exterior Styling Group were part of the initial announcement. Just tentative, of course.

"Carbon Fiber Interior Styling Group: Ungraded interior trim pieces and air ducts to carbon fiber.

Carbon Fiber Exterior Styling Group: Carbon fiber exterior front/rear brake ducts and rear diffuser. GTS exclusive carbon fiber rear fascia applique."

:dunno:

Maybe the 2013 viper is now targeting the European market where $150,000+ high performance cars are plentiful?

Power seats are standard with the GTS. Looks like no pricing yet on either the interior or exterior carbon fiber packages. Also no indication as to the price of the 6 vent hood if selected for the GTS.

Bill

The launch edition will not have carbon fiber... they will make 150 of them and then it won't be available in B/W again. If you noticed, they had two different blacks on the B/W cars... they are going with matte black versus the gloss black. I preferred the gloss black.

Sorry to say it, but the only thing the launch edition got right was the concept of b/w. Other than that it is a fail.

- Hideous wheels
- No carbon fiber
- Rear fascia in black
- Interior has no distinguishing features
- Interior is bland, especially compared to the unveiling car
- The widows peak not following the rest of the paint scheme
- No customizing like the others

It is not too late to change this SRT and I know I'm not saying anything new in regards to that model either.

I know my post was pretty negative, but don't get me wrong, I still want a Gen V. For me, not being a Viper owner, but a die hard Viper enthusiast left me wanting Gen II styling with Gen IV performance and technology. The Gen V settles that. Sure, it doesn't hit all angles perfectly (front grille), but neither does any other Viper IMO. I guess I'm disappointed with the launch edition because b/w would have been a combo I would have considered. Also, Ralph preached about the ability for full customization, but it doesn't seem to be there. I was expecting more colors inside and out. Maybe those things will come. Guess it works out in my favor anyways not being able to get one for a couple of years. By then, who knows.

Pick a color that you still like and have a 3M body matte wrap done on it. That way, if you ever sell it, you can revert it back to its original colors. I would not paint a new car as people will be suspicious and you may lose resale value.
I am considering this myself as I think a matte grey ala reventon would look sick on the gen V

I wanted a GTS Blue with White stripes Gen V from the start, but I feel the same way as mnc2886 about a lot of the options (or lack of options) the Launch Edition comes with. I'm starting to think it would be better to just order a GTS in GTS Blue, customize it the way I want it, then send it to get vinyl white stripes applied. That way the stripes will extend onto the body colored tongue on the rear window.

you've got a point.

I also hate the fact that the b/w is soo much exclusive for the launch edition which lacks options! guess Ralph wanted it to be a homage soo much.

Gotta settle meself, on a headache of selection lol!
