Famoso 1/30/10 private drag event and it was my first time running a
Gen 4 on a drag strip. Air was good as well as track prep so I was
hoping to break 10's but it didn't happened. I noticed the car is much
harder to put the power down than a modded Gen 3 I used to have
due to the power difference of 80whp.

A first few runs were horrible at high 12's then I got little better with
the throttle so I was able to run down the track without spinning
through 1st and 2nd. Toward the end of the day, I was consistently
running 11.3XX at 129.XX mph with 1.9XX 60ft. Oddly enough the
highest trap speed run of 130.92 net the ET of 12.35.

My trick to getting 11.3XX was by short shifting 1st at 5.5K to avoid
tire spin and excessive wheel hops. Also a light burn out with the
stock PS2 helped as well. I do believe the car has a little more
in it with more seat time...

Next time, I will try with some drag radials to break 10's and get 133+ trap
speed. By the way, the car has headers, exhaust, motons and mopar pcm
made about 35whp over stock.

Good times, but like you said, I'm sure you can do better next time with some more experience!

I can't wait to do some track rentals this spring

Decent times. Will only get better with practice.

I have yet to run mine, but w/ 3.55's it sounds as if I'll be needing DR's as well if I plan on getting any traction in 1st...

Actually those are great times! Do you have another private rental day coming up?

Congrats! Those are some good times. I was going to go but they changed it from the 16th and I ended up going to Sacramento. Those are some nice trap speeds and good times given your 60's: If you get those 60' times down you will easily be in the 10s.

Sweet run..... I know you can do better with practice and drag radials. It takes time to get that launch down. No roll bar? nothing under 11.5, if so you can't compete in The Summit Bracket Racing NHRA events.

Wow only 35 over stock? Are you using Belanger headers? Mine made 63 rwhp over the baseline. 687 at the crank.

Wow, that is a huge gain... :wow:
Yes, I'm using the belanger headers with HF cats and 2.5" corsa.
Although it only shows 35whp gain over stock but the SOTP feel of
power increase was noticeable and I guess that's what matters :2tu:
Perhaps that's why the dyno at DC is called a 'hearbreaker'?

Thanks, I'm excited to get into 10's with more seat time.
And yeah, I was wondering where you were at the event...
There were less than 20 cars total so the time was all we
had doing some countless runs. There was this GT-R did
more than 30 runs :omg:
BTW, how was Sacramento event?

This was a private drag event so the track officials didn't care
about the NHRA rules. Heck, last Nov. they even let the driver
run without the helmet in his Carrera GT

Had to be a blast for sure. No doubt the rules are different. Sacramento has a lot track rental test and tune days. I need to get up to that track and do that. I here it's a pretty fast track. It's difficult to really get in any practice at a meet with only two or three runs before racing at Infineion.

nice runs! what did the Carrera GT run?
I don't remember what the best run was but I saw his few runs
in the low 12's with 120-125 trap speed. I heard it was his first
time to the strip. BTW, nice ET with your GT-R, I'm still trying to
break 10's with the 600whp (somewhat inflated) GT-R although
it recently ran 10.7@134mph on the v-box which I don't count
them as a valid record :D

THe sacramento event was okay but there was a thick fog there most of the day which made the track less than ideal. ANyway, i was able to run a 11.16 at 129 mph in my stock gen4. I was hoping for a sea level density altitude but it ended up being around 660ft. The track prep is nothing like it is at famoso. The day I was at famoso it was unbelieveable.

Are you going to the Mojave mile event or mopars at the strip event?

Sorry about the kids commentary but they were excited!

That charger is one of the fastest heads and cam cars in the country. He ran an 11.15.

I have 501HP to the wheels on the GT-R, 600HP should get you 10.60's, my good friend ran 10.6x @ 132 with 543 HP at the wheels.... seems GT-R's the 600+ range are having these slipping or shifting issues?

Wow, that's great time..... 129mph on a stock Gen 4 is just
amazing. :2tu:
I really want to go to Mojave mile event but they are making
a big hassle for me since my car is vert. They say I must have
a roll bar and 5 point seat belts to run more than 165mph. :curse:

My car isn't making enough power to have those clutch/shifting issues...
It must be the air or the track here is Cali. since no one has claimed
running better than 10.8 even with high HP (580whp-600whp) cars. :(

The woodhouse engine mounts and tranny mount will eliminate your wheel hop.
I did get the woodhouse tranny mount but not engine mount.
It sure did eliminate some wheel hops but it's still present when
driven hard. I'm thinking may be the new suspension set up
(motons) causing it?
Unless the engine mounts dramatically reduces wheel hops
I'll just learn to live with them.

The stiffer motor mounts have been blamed by several of our guys for too much vibration and throttle body failures in the Gen IV.

Be careful with this mod as the Gen IV motor mounts are updated and stronger than the Gen III. I would not risk this and have not needed stiffer motor mounts for my Gen IV.

On the wheel hop, look to your tires. Wheel hop is caused by tires that stick, then slip, then stick, etc.

Thanks for the heads up.
Dan at DC also advised not to do the motor mounts as it may cause some
of the issues you've mentioned.
Next time I hit the strip, I'll be running with DR tires to eliminate the wheel
hops.

Wow that's some interesting info on the motor mounts. What seems really wrong to me is running a stiffer tranny mount without the use of similar motor mounts though. Unless something has changed in design, this usually results in excessive stress to the ears of the transmission case or the physical crossmember. It would seem to me that a limiting strap design for the trans would be a better idea.

Well it sounds like from the posts above that there is different mounts for the gen 4 and theyre even more stiff? I dont think there have been any problems with gen 3's and in my opinion they are amazing.
