Rarity/value on aero coupes...

Hi, all...

Not yet a VCA member, but hopefully will be soon!

Could someone give me a sense of the rarity (production numbers would be great) for a white w/blue stripes 2009 aero coupe?

In a much more subjective sense, would this combo be considered to be "highly sought-after"? In other words, without consideration for its rarity... where does it rank on prospective buyers' wish lists compared to the rest of the colors and combos. I drool over the white/blue combo, but I have no sense whether other Viper buyers feel the same way.

Aeros are surely rare, but almost every gen4 (08-10) is rare (especially when compared to the average production numbers of other vehicles).

It seems that the Aeros have not been the "upgrade of choice", as most buyers opted for the ACR if spending that much bread.

White with blue is a great combo, and was also used in 06 for the VOI edition cars.

I'm sure everyone will chime in here, essentially saying that you should buy what you will enjoy, and don't worry about the potential collectibility or rarity... as every Viper is classic!

I think you should get what you like and forget about future values. If the "aero coupe" refers to the shorter not so effective rear wing, I don't even get why Dodge even offered that.

I've never quite understood the point myself although I think it looks pretty nice.
Is it an ACR lite?
I think white with blue is a very classy combo.

Not to steal the thread .... but what about the vert aero's. More specifically - what about the #50 FE Aero that I just bought the winning raffle ticket for ???

Rare and desireable are 2 different things. Although most Aero cars are rare the ACR package will alway be more desireable and will bring in the bigger money on a resale. Not that the Aero's are a lesser car just not on the top of the food chain.

Easy to say when you own an ACR. All Vipers are awesome in my book. Even Yellow ones.

According to the '09 stats, they made 11 white coupes with dual blue stripes.
I assume the aero packages were included in that number, but not defined how many.

Well, from Viper Mag...it looks like in 2009 there were 11 Bright White Coupes with blue stripes and 4 ACR's in Bright White with blue stripes...did not see any numbers on "aero"...but I would bet there are only a couple.

There were 7 White w/ Blue Stripe Aero Coupes built for the 2009 model year (U.S. Retail Production Only, does not include Canadian cars). 5 of the 7 had Black/Blue two tone interiors.

Would politely disagree with a few who state the ACR will always be worth a bunch more. This is quite subjective and there is no doubt that the ACR is more sought after currently, though I believe there are many who are not even aware of the Aero Group. At $6500 it is more than half the price of an ACR upgrade and just like the ACR the wing went through Chrysler's wind tunnel. It is effective , just not as much as the ACR.

With barely over 50 done in 2008 ( both Coupes and convertibles combined ) and probably not much more in the following years, this is the classic lost version of so many cars that years later folks wonder where they came from, and why more were not made. Considering close to 200 ACRs per year, the Aero Group has the potential to be one of the sleepers out there. If you break them down by model , it could mean that only around 75 each ( Coupe and vert ) were ever done.

I own an ACR , love it to death, but scarcity and unknown variations of vehicles are often what elicits silly money in the future. Right now the ACR is king, but the Aero Group Snakes will likely come into their own down the road. Even today , many owners are questioned about who did the mods -- not aware this was a factory upgrade ( and that is the key ). The ACR will be strong too, but I think it is too early for us to guess about a model that by numbers could surprise alot of us.

Resale was not a part of the equation so much as having a car that was really different. I have to thank Bill, for his council, as I was trying to get this car purchased, and now a few months later, it is really cool to own a one of one aero group convertible.

It does appear that there are more of the Aero Group cars done as coupes, but regardless , the fact that they are both different from the norm is the appeal these Snakes will have over the years.

Do you mean w/without black centerband, w/without stripes. I know that the solid SSG ACR is a run of 3, and SSG ACR with black stripes is a run of 4. 1 of each of those cars belong to Houston VCA member's.

Well, I'd like to bring up the "chicken and the egg" possibility. Is it that the factory chose to not build too many Aero coupe options or, was it that customers just didn't order this option thinking the ACR was just a better deal?

If the first is true, then it certainly could be a sleeper, but if the latter is the case, then maybe scarcity does indicate less desireable when new and possibly in the future.

But, as said multiple times above, if you like the car, then you should buy it. It is a unique and rare car in and of itself, and this one would just be a reflection of you.

Ah, yes. This would be SSG with black centerband, no driver's stripe.
