I am supposed to race my buddy in his Roe powered Gen 1. He is supposed to be at 500 to 550 rwhp. I wasnt concerned before....

But now that I've read all this.....hmmmmmm :ponder:

The big advantage of a Roe supercharger is that it makes boost immediately. Full rwtq at 2,000rpm and a flat torque curve usually to 4,000rpm. It's like full power all the way through the engines rpm. I can't feel any difference between low rpm and high rpm (flat pwoer curve). With my car I fishtail a few hundred feet going into 3rd gear and that's with good tires and road surface. Traction is my problem, not power.

Hi Ted. I see you are a sled head and a bike guy too. I just sold my ZX12R last week. I had it hopped up and was close to 200 hp. It was scary fast. I had it over 180 mph quite a few times but never hit a bird or a bee..LOL. I was always tucked under the windscreen at that speed anyway. I also sold my sled this year. . It was an SRX all done up by Ekholm and had the Price 1000 in it. It was making about 210 hp which in its day was HUGE but with the Apex's coming out and the turbos, 200 hp is not much anymore. I have friends running 300 hp now and some running 400 hp out of a 1000 cc engine. That is absolutely insane. I'm not sure if you have seen any of the latest videos of guys in Revy and all of the riding places out there but the places they put these sleds now is suicidal. Its all fun but I dont want to be able to get to some of the peaks they are getting to now.

I've always been into huge power Pro Streeters. Tried the bike a few times, ... then I went with a 900 Thundercat, bored it out, ported, etc. etc. 220hp. Then I bought a Nitrous kit and went to the Hill Climb. There I finally found people crazier than me. I've got a 1000 Mountain Cat and pipes, etc. I've mellowed out since buying Vipers, head-on'd a semi, completely lost control of my Viper twice and I think I'll just stay about 180hp (+ Nitrous) with this sled. I rally'd my Viper with the VCA last year, came in second and really enjoyed it (limited speed????). Going to try road racing June 20 with the Western VCA region in Vernon. Might build a rollbar for my car and go do 9s at the track this summer, but ...

The start of one of the scariest jumps of my life, I'm getting mellow.

I had the unforgetable experience of riding and living through an avalanche on my ZRT600.

I'm starting to figure that my Guardian Angels must be getting tired. I'm trying to mellow out so that I'll still be around when I'm 90.

I think I'm even going to quit smoking, since I'm still alive. Ain't life Grand?

Well I raced motorcycles for years so I might have and advantage on you, I don't really race them anymore and don't twist it much on the street either as there are too many non drivers out there! My main point is a little extra hp is not always useable and in the case of the SRT, GTS in my experience the lower hp car is faster and much easier to drive for me.

Is it b/c the SRT's are harder to launch? Is it due to traction problems in 1st and 2nd gears?

I often see 570 rwhp SRT's running high 10's in the 1/4 mile, while 700 + rwhp SRT's running high 11's due to wheel spin.

What is your view?

Having owned an 01 RT and SRT I can say I think they pull pretty different. I think its more of a drivers race and would really come down to at what speed the race started at and where the SRT was making its shift points.

black mamba- where are you located? I think I remember you mentioning it before but I cant remember. Wallingford?

Hamden. What color is your SRT? I saw a black SRT in Hamden 2 weeks ago, tried to catch it but got cut off by traffic.

I raced a Z06 from 50mph. My car would be factory rated at 800+bhp. It was hard to tell the vette was even racing me I caught up to him so fast and passed him, then shifted into 3rd and fishtailed away from him as if he was siting still. My Duster runs 750hp when the Nitrous is turned on.

For me yes it is the launch, but I also think the dead stop accelleration of the GTS with its gearing is better for whatever reason I don't know? If I were an engineer maybe I could explain it?

Im down in Trumbull.

The car sounds awesome in that big tunnel on my way up in that area. (Sleeping giant park?)

See you on the road.
Yeah, I love that tunnel! I got the Belangers on my car and it sounds like 5 Harley's when I nail it in the tunnel! My buddy has a red SRT like yours too. But he doesnt have those nice chrome roll bars or those killer wheels like you have. Hey, you doing the cruise up to Macari Vineyards SAturday?
