Ordering a new SCT, just had a question for you guys that already have them. Besides the performance increase, I know you can have it turn off the rear O2's and eliminate the skip-****. Are there any other custom (besides performance) that can be turned on/off or changed that I should request?

Thermostat/fan temps, idle speeds, tip-in fuel, spark/fuel maps if requesting a certain change, Cats on/off, Evap on/off, skip-shift on/off, decel fuel cutoff edit...

{edit} Rev Limit...

SCT's customer service *****. I've been unable to use my SCT tuner or software, (keep getting an error when I try to run the software) and after numerous calls (all of which go on hold for 15 minutes then get disconnected) and e-mails to customer service, I have yet to receive any response from them. Even their "live chat" help feature doesn't work. The chat window just tells you to wait for the next available support person, then after 15 minutes disconnects and tells you to send an e-mail. (which they don't respond to.)

Does the SCt work for a FI car. My PCM is flashed but im looking to retune and if I can go the SCT route instead of getting the PCM reflash, I'd pull the tigger.

Unfortunately you are correct, they have gotten horrible as the economy has declined. They have about 2 people answering the Tech line... so it takes forever and a day to get through. Every 10 minutes of wait time, you MUST hit the number it tells you to, or it goes to VM and disconnects automatically. I can handle most of the tech problems here, however when the problem is on their end like it is in your case, there is nothing I can do.

You still haven't answered my e-mail though... did you ever fax in your paperwork? Did you ever download updates from the update client?

Without having done those, it is no surprise it doesn't work.

It is not what the SCT is capable of, but rather what the JTEC computer is capable of. The JTEC only has 9 cells of load resolution, normally this is fine for a 1-Bar NA MAP sensor. It is possible to convert to a 2-BAR, which will give you about 15lbs of boost capability, and 4.5 cells of load per bar. This WILL work fine so long as your engines fuel demand is fairly linear. Most engines will fit this profile, but I have seen a few that are all over the place due to head/cam/manifold configurations... they would be tricky, but not impossible. It takes a bit of know-how, but not something that would be impossible for someone familiar with tuning to figure out.

Yes, I faxed in the paperwork way back when I first got the software, and downloaded the updates from the update client.

I actually got through to them today. It looks like the problem may be on their end. They had a wrong letter on my ECM code (D instead of G) and this may be what was causing the problem. I'll run it again when I get home. Hopefully, this will fix it.

That could be the case, though they generally update you tot he latest release anyway. Perhaps in your case they didnt for some reason...

I can finally access the software.

The instructions are a little vague.

How do I get my current tune information off of my car and into my computer? Is there any way to upload my current tune from the obd port in my car into the Xcalibrator device, and from there into the Advantage software so that I can see what my baseline looks like? I have no idea what my current tune looks like, so I don't know where I'm starting from.

There is no way to "extract" a tune from your car- it should be stock unless it was reflashed. You would have to contact whoever wrote the original tune if it isnt stock, and ask for a copy/screenshots/list of the changes.

The tune that comes up when you access your processor code *IS* the stock tune, you are already looking at it, and that would be your starting point in most cases.

My car has a re-flashed tune. Is there any way to just tweak things like idle speed, shift light, etc., while preserving the car's current tune?

Unfortunately no- that is the problem with non-SCT flashes, there is no way to read them. If the tune was from SCT to begin with, a copy could be fwd'd to you from whoever wrote it. If the tune was written by you from scratch, you would already have a copy of everything you have written.

You can certainly ask SCT if they would be willing to extract your tune, but that is their call. The programmer does have the capability of reading the tune, and putting it in an e-mailable form for transmittal to SCT [this is how they got all of the stock tunes currently available] it just cannot extract it for viewing on the Advantage Tuning Console.

Also, can you ask whoever wrote the tune for the car for details on what was tuned? if it is a simple cut/paste from an older PCM timing/fuel, scaled for new injectors and a few other odd changes... that would not be hard to re-write at all.
