Oh Boy, you'll probably get alot of posts on this one...after all, this IS the Viper Board.

As all have said that have converted from various other supercars... you will never look back and regret your decision! Our Vipers are supercar Performance, VERY reliable, beautiful looking exotics. Chassis flex is a non-issue in the GTS, and you can expect a trouble free relationship!

20K is average for most Coupes on our Classified website, and if maintained well (and not a track car, of course) should bring you years of pleasure full, trouble free experiences!

Good Luck!

I've had a GTS for almost 4 years and never looked back at the Euro & Japanese cars I've driven, or even American for that matter. I liked the car so much, I opted to modify the car with a "Hennessey 650R package", to enhance what was already a good performer. The car is "bullet proof". Chassis flex is minimal. Service is relatively simple. The performance for the $ can't be beat. After 30K miles since new, there isn't another car in it's class I would consider at it's price!

The Viper is really something unlike any other car. A ZO6 can't touch it. Get a Viper with a warrenty and then if you have trouble with something it will be covered. I have a blue/white 97 GTS for sale with less then 11,000 miles and four year extened warrenty. I bought a 2000 GTS. I have come across many NSX's even ones with superchargers, no contest for the Viper.

Good luck

NSXBOY,

You mentioned GTS: why not RT/10??
Everyone who has a GTS will tell you they LOVE the GTS !!
Everyone who has a RT10 will tell you they LOVE the RT10 !!
Everyone who has BOTH (GTS & RT10) will tell you they LOVE Both !!
After all they are VIPERS.
You live in a part of the country where it can be HOT and the need for a 'hard' top is necessary (fry your brains).
You also have times when a true convertable is FUN, FUN, FUN !!
Therefore, consider a RT10 with Both Tops.
My son and family live in Grand Prairie TX.

Reguardless of your choice, the Viper is the ultimate.

No flex zip, zero, nada. The car handles like it is on rails, put a Viper RT on the rack look at the frame and you will be amazed at the cross members, the chassis is STIFF, I've road raced her.

I am a general car nut and have also had a few different kinds of cars, from vintage Alfas to a 98 BMW M3, and a 99 Viper GTS.

I have found out that while the Viper is not a mainstream sports car, it is not nearly as outrageous as described in the car rags. I drive the car regularly rain or shine. Yeah, it's sort of loud, has a rumpy idle, and the side pipes pump heat into the car, but it's tight, rides better then our RX-7 twin turbo, handles very well, and of course has great power. Every other car I drive after the Viper seems slow.

I kind of think of it as an American Lamborghini. I think it is better for long distance travel then our M3 because it is geared tall and you can cruise at 80 plus mph all day and always be relaxed.

As far as a Z06 goes, my wife and I will be getting a 2001 in the next couple of weeks. I suspect that you would also like the Corvette. It won't have the power of the Viper, but is probably very close overall on a road course.

With choices like this, it is truly a great time to be a car enthusiast.

Jim
