FYI... that auction website has an ad w/ a 2002 FE Viper #215 w/ pics of my car not the said car. Just wanted to throw that out there if anyone was looking.

Contact the seller and contact ebay. I have had this issue before with a previous car and the seller of the item took it right down. He used my car to advertise a knock off product that was not used on mine and I had him take it down.

If the VIN # and milage different from yours, I wouldn't be bothered.Boating ads using sistership photos, no harm with that IMO.
Nice car BTW.

Thats BS contact E-bay and the seller and make him take them down. I'm sure his car looks no where near as good or he would have used his own pics. Misrepresentation at its finest.

am i missing something, why do you guys care?

Um, it is illegal number one. It is false advertising number 2. It could include something that could be viewed as damaging to your car as in my case they were advertising a cheap door kit when I had the actual expensive kit on my car.

+1 Using a photo or any kind of representation of someone else's car is fraudulent to both the true owner and any prospective buyer. I bought mine from a VCA listing, but for safety reasons used Ebay and 'buyer protection' for paying. If i hadn't gotten exactly what i paid for, then something would have hit the fan.:dunno:

You would think a scammer or someone that is misleading his customers would not have a 100% positive feedback on almost 1000 transactions.
It isn't right for him to use pictures other than his own. Should fall under copy rights I believe.

Did you read the description, car was damaged by a chain ripping a hole in the frame during transport.....I surely wouldn't want someone using my pics to descibe that car:mad:

I sent him a message asking what the car he has actually looks like since the pictures aren't his. Will be interesting to see a response...

hell i could care less if anyone uses my car, you cant drive the car or listen to the drivetrain in a pic, and when you go to look at the car in person, he would be doin u a favor to find out right away it isnt the car in the pic, then you would know the guy was tryin to pull the wool over you instead of finding out later after you bought it something that was bandaided- the guy would show you right off the bat he is shady.:dunno:

Junk title, because the front fascia got hung up on a transporter? Bent frame because it got hung up on a transporter? HOLE in the frame because it got hung up on a transporter? okie dokie.:D

Ps- I have this on my watch list, and the price is dropping by the hour.. It started lat night at $39.9k, then $38.5k,then 38k, now its $37.9k obo.

Act now, by tomorrow, it might be $25k.:D:D This ad has all the flags of being completely fraud.. Or at the very best. Completely misrepresented. pass.

The vin isn't mine, all of the pics are mine... I did shoot him an email asking if he was going to use any pics of his car. Then he put one picture of another car up.

am i missing something, why do you guys care?

(hypothetical scenario)
I flew down to Texas to look at the car only to find out it wasn't the one in the pictures. I spent over $1k on flights, hotel and transportation to/from the seller........:dunno:

It's misrepresentation and is flat out wrong.......THAT'S why someone SHOULD care!!!!
(just my .02)

unless you are doodles (the person trying to sell the car) than I could understand not caring

BTW - I sent him a note asking him if the pics were of the actual vehicle or a 'similar' car -

I'll post his reply when I hear back.....

I agree with Roffey,

Do I find this out before or after, I buy a thousand dollar plane ticket? I'm glad the car I flew from Houston to Fresno to see .... was exactly the one pictured :2tu:

Are those pictures of the actual car for sale?
Or are they pics of a similar car, used to 'describe' your car?
Thanks!

Yes the pictures are of the actual car.

OK everyone, he changed all the pictures out. I didn't want anyone losing their deposit/airfare over something silly like that. I am just glad to see the seller took the pictures of my car down and put pictures of his car up. Now the buyer knows what to expect.
Cheers.:)

Where did he get the pictures from? If they are out there on the web from a previous ad, you could include that link in your report to eBay, See the link at the bottom of the auction page "Report this item " You might have trouble convincing them though since he has posted at least one picture of the car for sale (The one with the FE 215 plate, and maybe a couple of other interiior pictures that look like they were taken at the same time.)
