Finally got around to putting the Startech 20 inch rims and Pirelli PZero tires on my 1997 gts.

What a difference, the look and quality of these rims, compared to stock is unbelievable. These rims make the stock rims look like normal car rims. Although the rims are not chrome plated they are extremely bright and reflective.

As per questions from previous posts:

1) Ride is as good as my old 2001 gts with stock rims and tires, no complaints, very smooth, a little more road noise, but I will not be hearing that after my B&B header/cat back install next week..

2) The front rims don't rub at full turning, either left or right.

3) Handling is better, cornering is tighter.

4) The only thing I notice is when driving, the car will tend to find the hidden groves in the road a little easier than with the stock tires.

Here are the pictures I promised.

I'll be a dissenting voice here. I just think they make it look too ricer. Sorry, I just like the 5 star 96-98 wheels the best.

The Tires are Pirelli P Zero Rosso. The only 20 inch tire for the Viper.

Front tires are 285/30/20
Rear tires are 348/25/20

You dont have to adjust the speedo, because even though you are using a larger rim size, the side wall of the tire is lower, thus the circumfernce or turning size of the new rim and tire is the same as stock rim and tire.

AT $11K for those rims and tires, please guard them. There are definitely punks out there that would like to take them from you.

I think that the StarTech wheels look great! They really fill the huge Viper wheel wells highlighting the Viper's muscular looks.
Wow! $10K+ for a brake/rotor upgrade?

Enjoy it.

They certainly look unique, and I don't think they're "rice" any more than other exotic cars' (e.g. Lamborghini) wheels are "rice.

My biggest concern would actually be weight -- does anyone have the figures for the Startech's?

They look great! Where did you buy them? Did you have to order directly from Germany or is there a retailer in the US? Partsrack?
Thanks!

So Cal Viper,

I had the same issue with the brake dust with stock pads on my stock rims and then with the Startech's, could not stand it. I had EBC Greens on my 2001 GTS and bought them for my 1997 gts, no more brake dust at all.

Pick up a set at greatbreaks.com or partsrack.com.
$75 for the front 2 and $70 for the rears.

Thanks for the info on the speed slight change, I usually only worry about speeds in heavy traffic, when radar detector is beeping, a highway patrol is in visual sight and school zones.

Having cars with and without ABS, do you feel ABS is way better or do I just need to get used to the non ABS braking style? I haven't flat spotted the tires yet, but I have had a couple of tripple digit braking experiences that were a little hairy!

I never noticed any difference with the ABS on the 2001. I had hit the brakes pretty hard, front tires squeled and they never kicked in. The price of the 2001 did not go up much, if any at all. So I am sure the ABS they have in there is not top quality and does not even come close to a Lexus or Mercedes ABS system for performance.

Hard braking in triple digits is a hairy experience in any car. You just have to get use to the way your car reacts under different braking senerios.

Unfortunately its hard to practice for someone pulling out in front of your when you are doing 120! you just have to experience it and learn from it.
