suggestions for weight loss on srt10

So far i have..;

-lighter weight 2008 look alike hood

-titanium exhaust (eliminated cross pipes)

-no pre cats or rear cats

Should be around 100 pounds lighter than stock as my complete exhaust weighs just 17 pounds

I saw a batter that weighs 20 pounds less than stock and im thinking about getting it

Im also thinking about eliminating the underside sheet medal that hides all the pipeing such underneigth

Also abot to order the Findanza fly wheel..This eliminates 15 pounds
then theirs Daves big brakes under drive pulley that eliminates 3 pounds...


BTW Im fat at 5'8" and 230 pounds..But reguardless of attempts they havent been able to pry the cheeseburgers from my hands yet:lmao::lmao:

Any other ideas that dont sacrifice my interior ect

Two piece rotors and rims and tires. That will drop 80 plus pounds with the right setup. The new 6 spoke or acr wheels will work.

One more thing, there is a vendor on here somewhere that sells carbon fiber fenders and sills for the SRT10. That should be worth a bunch of weight.

Things I have done to lose weight.

Custom billet crankshaft (29 pounds lighter than stock)
Lightweight pistons, rods, etc. (not a lot of overall weight lost, but lightening up rotating mass is a good thing)
Corsa exhaust with crossover delete
Carbon fiber drive shaft; (actually didn't lose much weight with this, as the stock shaft is surprisingly light.)
Tilton carbon/carbon clutch with lightweight flywheel (Actually, I lost a bit too much weight with this, and had to add back some weight in the clutch/flywheel to make the car more drivable)
SSR 18 inch wheels (very big weight loss here, and this is unsprung weight, so that's a bonus.)

Things that would reduce weight even more:

Change out the stock seats to lightweight seats.
Lighter weight brake rotors
Lighter weight battery (Although some folks have used them successfully, I haven't had particularly good luck with the two I've used. They seem to have limited life and cranking power.)
Ditch the stereo

This is probably not a good idea. That underside sheet metal is part of the aerodynamic package on the car. It provides significant downforce at speed.

Just a note. I had a friend that took so much weight out of his GTS that the handling went off.

Springs became too firm and shocks no longer were valved properly.

You can also goof up your corner weighting by removing weight unevenly.

Best suggestions for lightening are light weight wheels, and light weight brakes with aluminum hats.

Just went with six spokes and Eurotech rotors today. Put them on together to see if I could tell if there would be a seat of the paints difference. Car feels quicker with the 70 lbs of rotating mass loss.

I really just love the look of my powdercoated 2003 stock rims..

How much weight loss can be done with just roters eurotech or any other brand...

aprox weight numbers if anyone has them compared to stock..Will i be sacrificing brakeing???? Or gaining? THANKS!!!

I was thinking the same thing but Im more of a 1/4 mile type of guy and dont forsee 150 PLUS mph in my future...If I do it Ill post up a video and my impressions..Plus those things are probally very light and worth very little weight..Im still tempted how ever

Couldnt I just buy the light weight battery and save that 20 pounds and keep the stock battery in the trunk in case I have any cranking problems????

Forget taking weight off. Put weight on. You know, a supercharge, turbo's, etc :D

Does no one make a carbon fiber set-up like the ZR1, Ferraris, Lambos, etc. for the Viper? I mean if you are going to go to all the trouble of putting on lightweight rotors, etc. why not splurge. Just curious if anyone has come up with a CF replacement rotor/pads kit?

Not interested in CF replacement body parts (will wait for a GEN V car with factory CF body parts :) ), but would be interested in a CF replacement brake rotor kit and pads.

The way I read it the Ceramic brakes were going for about $5,000 each. Might be a Ferrari "price", but I certainly understand that a couple pounds and a couple feet certainly aren't worth tens of thousands of dollars to me. I used Roe 14" front brakes. The advantages are that the steel is a better quality and the air vanes inside the rotor are MUCH higher quality. 9# per rotor is fine with me. I have stop-tech slotted/drilled on rears.

It's the same exact one. I've had this battery on my car for over 10 days now. I also drove 4.5 hours down south to DC Performance without any problems. Cranks the motor just as good as the Interstate. Or the 21 lb braille battery I had on there before.

Last time I weighed the interstate battery it was 40lbs..

OK,,This link for the eurotech roters says you will lose 40pounds over the stock roters...

So eurotech roters/6 spoke rims/light weight battery= 100 pounds weight loss..

Then add a aftermarket exhaust with the cross pipes deleted and your at= 130 pounds weight loss


Those few things will take a 3380 pound stock srt10 to 3250 pounds...Not bad..

The eurotechs are around 1700$ though...Kinda pricey...Anyone know how long these last under normal driving

Just an FYI, the under car sheet metal is there for not only aerodynamics, but more importantly for stiffening the frame structure! Do not remove it, don't believe me? take it off and jack up one corner you will.

Neil said the Euroteck rotors will last as long or longer than stock rotors. They are awesome looking.
