When installing the 1.7 T&D Roller Rockers with a stock cam and springs, is there any need /advantage to change the stock pushrods? Thanks Tim

That would defeat the purpose of longer rockers. The rockers are longer to increase the valve lift.More valve lift means more air/fuel entering the combustion chamber.

FWIW, I'm not sure using T&Ds with stock springs is a good idea. The stock Viper valvetrain already tends toward float near redline, and adding 15% to the travel is only going to make the situation worse.
If you're upgrading lifters, why not spend a little extra to upgrade the springs while you're at it?

Now I'm really confused.First I heard just rockers were ok. Then I heard rockers and pushrods. Now I hear do rockers, pushrods and springs. I would like to hear more comments from those who have done the 1.7 rocker mods to help me make the best choice the first time. Thanks.

T&D rocker will work fine. You need a longer push rod to keep the rockers from pushing on the retainers instead of the valve tips. Longer rods or shortening the pedistals will keep the roller tip on the valve stems. Push rods are easier. Always check to be sure no other part of the rocker is contacting the the retainer. If it does it can release the keeper and drop a valve. I bought push rods from TNT everything is fine.

I have a 97', does that make a difference with the push-rods when installing the 1.7 T&D's? Do the pushrods really need to be changed?

In every case I've seen you need to change push rods or machine the pedistals, as recommended in the instructions, to get proper gemometry on the valves. Push rods are relatively inexpensive and TNT knows just what you need.

For T & D's first you must determine the correct geometry. This is done by using their stand height gauge. This will make sure that the rocker is set correctly relative to the stands. Once this is done they recommend that you use an adjustable pushrod to determine the correct length for your pushrod. If you do not have the correct pushrod length it will impede the flow of oil at the rocker and eventually damage your motor.

After reading all the responses to my Original question,I called the manufacture of T&D rockers. Unfortunately, they would not commit to an answer weather the pushrods needed to be changed without seeing the install. Very good answer on their part. However, has anyone who's reading this thread actually had T&D rockers installed on stock 97 heads. If so, please give me your imput. Did you HAVE to change the pushrods for proper fit and performance? Thanks for all of your replies. Tim

I will help you with your install and explain the process. It is really quite easy but the first requires a bit of knowledge. T&D had done a redesign for me on stock valve use

Thanks
