Most of us know about Stryker heads and Greg Good heads. Most of us also know Chuck Tator, and we also know that Chuck is probably the worlds most reknown Viper tech. What many of you may not know is that Chuck Tator builds 700-725 fly wheel hp bullet proof naturally aspirated Gen 3 engines w/ stroked/ported heads, comp cam, and lower ends capable of handling 900-1000 fly wheel hp.

After blowing my engine, Chuck built me an estimated 600-625 rwhp n/a motor w/ a bullet proof lower end ready to handle super or turbo charging. He had the heads totally redone, and added the cam and two pages of stuff on his invoice like PC pistons, tougher rods, lifters....etc. He also gave me a significant discount and detailed the car for me for delivery. He also put in my rollbar, navigation, comp coupe oil pan and fire extinguisher. Also, I have Jeff Lemke's 08-like hood! I cannot tell you how much sexier and mean that hood makes my Viper look! I get twice the stares as before. And Jeff's hood is only like 10 lbs and w/ some cutting the heat shield from the old hood goes right on his hood. I had Jeff paint the hood black and his paint matches my black car perfectly.

My car is a total naturally aspirated monster. The car roars and the entire car shakes at idle due to the cam like there is an earthquake underneath. I do have Belanger headers and full exhaust, but the roar is still almost a full octave lower than before! My wife says,
"I used to hear you 1/2 mile away before you got home...now I can feel you 1/2 mile away cause the ground shakes!

People constantly pull up beside me and say, "Man I love the way your car sounds!" It is an aggressive deep intimidating sound. Funny thing is that Vettes and Porsches and even Mustangs would constantly pull up to me for a challenge prior to these mods, now after simply hearing this new roar....I cannot get any takers! I pull up besides them, they wave and keep it moving.

I have about 200 more miles to complete my break in period...and after checking the oil numerous times there has been NO oil consumption at all on this new engine, and the color did not start to darken until I passed 600 miles!

The acceleration is insane, the torque is insane. The car is insane...and s/c or TT is on the schedule for next year....after my break in phase we will dyno the car and I will take it to the drag strip and post some numbers for you guys! I will keep you posted on just what Chucks Monster can do!

Amazing writeup there, blackmamba. I have heard all about Chuck Tator and the work he does. Haven't been in any of his cars or spoken to the man himself. Eventually when I can afford and own a Viper I will definitely speak to him. Everyone says he's a great guy, the Viper Wizard and I've seen his barbecue party pictures. If Mr. Tator reads this himself, he ought to be honoured and proud to have non-Viper owners but Viper enthusiasts praising his work and attitude toward the Viper community.

Saw and heard it in person at Tators tech session. It's an awesome car, and sounds as mean as it looks. :2tu:

I would not expect anything less from Chuck:2tu: My only complaint is I live a little to far to get him to work on my vipers (250 Miles).

Even though I used to drive 250 miles one way to get warranty work done with no aggravations.

Hmmmm...speaking of ALE....I asked if Chuck had any, and he'd DRANK all his English Ale!
(or maybe he didn't want to share the GOOD stuff??? :rolaugh: )
GuitarSteve---you can call Chuck if you have Viper questions...we are VERY lucky to have him in our region for sure! ~juli

What are you using to tune the engine?

How much did you stroke the engine?

What sort of headers/exhaust are you using?

How much did you stroke the engine? I mis-spoke, Tator actually did not stroke the motor. I will f/u w/ you w/ what he actually did to the heads.

What sort of headers/exhaust are you using?
Belanger headers and Belanger full exhaust kit.

And now we can compare your car with a paxton to see how the two compare...

Joe
Lets line em up! :drive: I had a guy in a Viper Truck w/ 150 hp nos shot challenge me, said he ran low to mid 11's. We pulled into a parking lot to discuss things...then I told him I had an estimated 700 flywheel hp...he said, "let me hear it." So I revved it pretty good...he backed down. But told me he would pay me $500 if I kicked his friends ass who drove a 06 z06 and that was constantly talking crap. We exchanged numbers and set a match up for next week....my break in will be done by then!:nana: I will keep you guys posted on next weeks race!

You should come down to florida for a week so we could test them out...

Sounds like the car is running very well...Thats a given since the wizard worked on it...
Love the hood also..
You should get some video going...

Enjoy and be safe... Have you upgraded your tires yet?

I have the new PS-2's, thats it. They seem to stick pretty good, especially compared to the stock run flats. I am not having significant wheel spin, but I have not done any WOT take offs yet. If I do have significant spin I will look into Kumho's or something stickier. Any suggestions?

Congrats on the car. I feel the same way about my Heads/cam car. Get it to the track and lay some numbers down while it's still N/A. Then add some boost...most people don't do that, and it would be a great way for you to step into a true 1000rwhp monster.

Good luck and keep it dirty side down!

If you come down to FL, let's run my H/C ACR vs your H/C SRT. Should make for a great show! I'm in Orlando. I only make 565rwhp :D

I have to differ on the hood. The paint match was great and the hood looks aggressive. :2tu: BTW your car does sound awesome.:crazy2:

But the fit was far from perfect. :dunno: It's fine from a distance but standing 5 ft away I could see that it didn't fit. There were gaps everywhere. Since your car is black, it is harder to observe these differences. On any other color, it would be an eyesore. $0.02.

oooooo AVI!!!! We didn't note any gaps, I have several pictures, not just of the hood tho.
Yes, the hood looks aggressive and the Viper sound is the BADDEST we've heard (meaning GREAT)~!!

Yep, Tator told me about the hood imperfections before I picked it up, that the hood was not perfect...but neither am I, so its a good match!
Seriously, for a perfectionist it will irritate the hell out of you. But for someone that simply wants to go fast as hell and have a mean ass car, I dont really give a crap. There is a slight twist and it does not line up perfectly in the front, but most people will never notice it, and even if they do, so what. Jeff makes a good product. The car runs cooler also.

Also, I did not know that the roll bar would make the car a little stiffer, corners better! I have the Autoform rollbar.
