Top Gear is one of my favorite shows, and for good reason. Nobody shoots a driving sequence like they do.I hope like hell he's wrong, but I fear he's not.
In fact, in London, some of their municipal vehicles already have electronic throttles controlled by a GPS guided computer that will not allows the driver to excede the posted speed limit. That's right, Big Brother has his foot on their gas pedal already. Now that's a slippery slope that only leads to the downward spiral of civilized society, then Godless Communism, and worse.
My advice, keep you eyes open and your voices strong.

When I was going thru school working on Porches at a small shop the ex-hippie master mechanic I worked for said to me once:

What ever happened to the days of people bringing their 911s' in for flat spots, warped rotors and bent transmission mounts with grass all over them. Now it's just "my ac isn't cold" and "my radio stopped working"...and their cars have bald tires, dirty engine compartments and coffee cups covering the floor boards....

He took another drink of beer and began to reminisce further...

I'm afraid the days of driving are coming to an end. It's already effecting us all - you can't even enjoy the back roads anymore unless you have an attorney on retainer and bail money in your wallet. I went back wards and bought a Gen1 just for this reason. It's a drivers' car that heals my soul every time I get in it. I come out soaked in sweat, smelling like exhaust and physically exhausted. My ACR is a dream on the track and effortless to drive fast; it's very sedate on the street. I love them both for different reasons - point: they all have big red targets painted on them. Weather you like the old school driving experience of the Gen1 or the sewing machine perfection and precision of the Gen4 - we may all not have the choice for very much longer...

Yup. I was talking to a 23-year-old last week who said a buddy was gonna take him for a drive and teach him how to use the paddle shifters on his 370Z. Part of me wanted to laugh out loud and part of me was sad.

Sadly there are Viper owners just as bad.

Agreed, but todays biggest problem is not a gas crisis, but the green movement(which will grow rapidly because you don't have to understand it to fit in). Pretty soon, not only will they go after engine size, and performance, but also attack speed limits as a way to save fuel. It's coming fast, soon it'll be more fun to ride a bicycle.

In the end, the hell with them. Collect the cars you always wanted and drive the cars you always wanted. Keep them running and in great shape. Plenty of awesome cars already out there and lots of great Vipers.

If they continue to be produced, that is just gravy. That Aston 77-One is awesome, but Wow what a price tag. Like $1.5M?

I wouldn't count on that. Guns are specifically stated as a Constitutional Right and look how much fight there is over that freedom. Cars however, are not mentioned anywhere in the Bill of Rights and law enforcement continues to stress the notion that driving is a privilege. The environmental wackos and our increasingly oppressive government could very well outlaw cars over x-number of years old. This cash for clunkers BS is a baby step towards it.
