E.T. wise its a decent run but mph-wise thats horrible imho. You should be deep in the 130+ mph with 630rwhp. Thats almost 200 more hp than stock and the stockers have been known to hit 120-123mph. Dont know how you guys can say this is good for a blown Viper. :dunno: Get that car redynoed. No way in hell a 630rwhp Viper should be anywhere near 124mph on a full run. Stock 08-10's do 130+ with only 530rwhp.

Maybe with seasoned/skilled driver, on a excellent prepped track and with great weather...certainly not with an average Joe behind the wheel...

My best run is as follows:

1.86 60'
11.49 1/4
124.5 MPH

My sixty foots were as low as 1.81, and as high as 2.3 at the beginning:rolaugh: But, the 124 trap speed is what I didn't understand...it seemed a little low, and it didn't matter if I ran a 11.9 or the 11.4. I know my car is very conservatively tuned at 630rwhp, but don't you think more trap speed should have been had? On the best run posted above, the shifts were crisp and clean.

:drive:

Did u experience any wheel hop...esp the 1-2 shift?

A novice( provided they have the ability to shift a car thru the gears into the powerband )should trap within a mph or 2 of a great driver .What will be vastly different of course will be the ET they are turning.Hes popping 1.8 60s (VERY GOOD )with over 600 to the tire on a sea level track there is no way that Viper should no be trapping in the mid 130s.

Your mph is only slightly low. I have not seen a "base" Paxton car run better than 11:10 on street tires. Most run mid 11's.

If you are running the stock gears the 20" wheels and slightly taller tire will have an effect on how fast the supercharger can spool back up between shifts.

For his particular car yes...I was talking about a stock Gen IV...very, very few can trap 130 and it would have to be at one of the 'so called' fast tracks..MIR,Atco etc. with perfect weather conditions. But why speculate..there is a track rental in October at Atco...I will be going...if anyone is interested let me know.

My stocg Gen 4 (not broken in on a hot day =80 degrees )ran 11.3 at 129.7 and Smith (a ton of cars to test that day )had literally no time to fool with it (not to mention the fact i didnt want him to beat on it )The dyno numbers all indicate those Paxton cars are SUPPOSED TO make more power than a stock Gen 4

You never saw Jamie Furmans stock Paxton kit (done by Heffner then )Furman at Mid Atlantic events on stock Pilots (only 6lbs boost )turned 10.9s at near 133 all day long .This again was not on dr but Pilots in near 100 degree heatat Englishtown

Is this Smith guy an average car enthusiast like most of us or does he have some track experience?

I believe he's speaking of Evan Smith of Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords(among others).

Yeah, he's got 'some' experience. Like a metric ****-ton of it. The guy is good.

Ryan ranger can't hold a candle to Evan.

That guy is amazing and has been for almost two decades. All kinds of platforms, first time driving them.

Ranger makes a million passes in own car, eventually gets some great passes and the vette guys worship him. Everytime I ran into him at the track I couldn't stand him.

Actually you are partially correct..I have studied this exclusively and is 9o0% of the reason I wish to trade up to a 2008..

-A gen2 will go 115-118 mph with average drivers..119-120 with great drivers and possible 121-122 with the great track great driver combo you speak of

-A gen3 will go 117-120 mph with average drivers...121-122 with great drivers and 123-124 with the great track great driver combo you speak of

the gen4's are completely at a differant level

-A gen4 with go 125-127 with average drivers...128-129 with great drivers and 130-131 with the great driver great track combo you speak of...

what has been surprising about the 08's is that at tracks across the country they have CONSISTENTLY hit the 129 mph threshold with just average drivers

Exactly Evan had not so much as sat in a Gen 4 Viper (much less than drve one )his first pass was an 11.5 (he ran the 11.3 after approx 3 passes ).The guy gets consistant 1.8 sixty foot times on any stock tire (not drag radials but stock tires ).He just jumps from car to car (hundreds of passes per week ).One day its a 6 cyl Mustang the next day Saleens got him behind the wheel of an S-7 the next Ford has him at their proving ground (moonlights as a test driver on their prototy[pes )

you know honestly looking at the z06 numbers you really gotta question if their is some midnight tweaking going on here....On the viper list just about everyone is in the 120-123 mph range and your faster guys are 121-123..pretty much the same mph as everyone else just better driveing..

Then you get to the C6Z06 side and 90% of those guys are 122-125 moph..then you have one 127 and one 128 mph...kinda fishy IMHO..as with great driveing your mph usually is the same or lower do to better traction

No it was 129 done during a test and tune night at Englishtown (late october 40 degrees out ) the car was new (less than 500 miles ) totally stock (belonged to a kid who came up for a driving instruction) If you have the Super Chevy test he did on one he trapped 126 on a 85 degree day into a headwind(its all documentated )Englishtown and Atco are flat out two of the fastestest tracks out there

Jamie also ran 128.7 you get these cars on 40 degree nights on a sealevel track where they hold NHRA MAJOR events at its a different ballgame .Hell he thinks on an icecold night he could have gotten a 133 mph pass out of my GEN 4 NO PROBLEM AT ATCO OR E-TOWN

So i guess my point holds water...an average driver, on an average track, with average weather could not run 130+...

FYI...the corsa exhaust and K&N drop in filter did nothing for my ET times...they are the same as when I was running the car stock!....maybe it's time to visit chuck for those belangers and roe cats.

actually you have a list of what 11 people and 5 of them are 129 or 130 mph..Id say you have a good chance..

Let her kool down for a while and get the tire pressure around 22 psi and go for it...You will atleaste get 127..

GOOD LUCK

Twister...124 was my top mph, and I hit it a three times...alot of 122s, and a couple 119s in the beginning

What was the DA? I know you say the altitude was 80 ft, but what was the heat,BP, and humidity? These can cause the DA to rise and slow your time and MPH down.

If the temp was 85, the humidity around 30%,the BP was 30in, and the elevation was 80 the DA would be around 1800...with better (around 0 or better) DA your time would be in the low 11's and the mph would be in the high 120's

well that is a beautiful ride you got there..nice rims....I see you are rideing on 20's....this will reduce your overall gear..so you could be loseing a lil mph as well with your 3.07 rear gear being made to think she's a 2.90 with the taller 20 inchers...

Wheel diameter has zero to do with tire diameter. When you go upsize in wheels for any car, the tire diameter remains the same as OEM. Just the sidewall gets thinner. I've seen, on numerous message boards, similar comments as yours. I'd like to at least educate you on this subject. In fact, his 20" tire might even be a hair shorter than OEM, if he is running a Nitto INVO 345/20 ;)

Ryan, I wouldn't sweat the details. Your 60' and ET were damn good, especially for a first-timer. Trap speed will jump quite a bit once cold weather arrives. My Paxton coupe averaged 131-133 or so mph, with the highest pass going 135. It was a warm day, car put down 660 rwhp or so at the time. Keep in mind that the Viper is geared horribly for the 1/4-mile too.

I think your still confused on the et verses trap speed issue -driver (provided they can shift a car thru the gears into the powerband )really should not effect trap speed. As far as average track average weather a 630 rhp Viper should trap way way over 124 mph on a SEA LEVEL TRACK in 80 degree weather.A 124 mph trap speed is in absolutely no way indicative of a car of that power level in the conditions of the test(i have seen Vipers making 500 to the tire trap higher ).Something has to be wrong.Nine ball for instance with his bolt on Paxton is trapping in the mid 130s.Hank is 11 mph slower. For the same set up to trap 11 mph less there is a dramatic horsepower difference (way over 100 horsepower to the crank )Really one can not fool, manipulate ect a trap speed- PRIME indicator of engine horsepower.

Furman only made 600 to the tire with his bolt on Gen 2 (done by Heffner )and ran 133mph at Englishtown MOPAR ATLANTIC NATS in possibly the worst weather for horsepower EVER.It was 90 plus degrees (humid beyond belief ).I could see the weather effecting his trap a couple of mph but no way in the world is that car near the claimed power output .None of my Vipers were realistically over 575 to the tire and you could miss a gear and still run 124 in any weather on a sea level track

I am not confused...I think you mis-read my thread...I am not talking about the paxton car but a STOCK Gen IV... I agree a 630hp Viper should trap over 130 and even some seasoned drivers can get a stock Gen IV to do 130 . I am talking about the 'once in a while go to the drag strip' guy driving his Gen IV to a 130mph...don't think it is going to happen unless under super ideal conditions.
