We are all very passionate about our Vipers , but sometimes we are a bit unaware of the actual impact on the general public this beautiful machine has. This past weekend , the Omaha Auto Show exhibited the new automobiles and some concepts to estimated crowds of 50,000. Sure this is a small show in comparison to the major cities, but it does draw respectable numbers for a City of 400,000+. The Coupe we were supposed to recieve from Connor Ave. did not arrive , so we got lucky and one of our customers who had just gotten a VCA Edition allowed us to use his car at the show( Reliable showed up at 7:30 that very morning). We literally made it 5 minutes prior to the Thursday 11am opening, but with stanchions protecting it the VCA Edition stood proud in all it's glory and was dynamite under the auditorium lights. Chrysler dominated the show with over 50 cars ( more than Ford and GM combined ) and they brought along their 7 minute, build a Charger from scratch display -- this is wild!!
The exciting part about the show , was with all the cars there ( show cars, concept cars, classics ) the ones that showcased 2 TV stations ( NBC, ABC affiliates ) were the Mercedes convertibles and the Viper. The Red/White Snake was shown on every news patch and though it was probably on only 2-3 seconds, it was the car they panned the longest. I was only able to be at the show towards the end , to pick up one of the VCA 50, but it was amazing the number of folks standing around the car , taking pictures , asking questions, etc. It was obvious that this redhead still had all the power to stop traffic.
The paper , surprisingly, only had a small blurb about the show, and it only discussed price on the Mercedes , the Viper, and a Jag convertible.
All in all, it was a strong kill for the Snake , over the rest of the black donut shod human propellant conveyances!
Respectfully Submitted,
Bill Pemberton
