Rachel and I met up with Tom (tbsviper) and his wife early this morning at ******* Barrel for some quick grub:
We decided to take the back roads to Mohican State Park and the Mohican Resort & Conference Center to meet up with other OH Vipers:
We only got stuck behind one 'slow poke', but man did grand-ma-ma slow us down; doing 30 in a 50 and riding her brakes in sheer terror. Painful.
The back roads were a blast and Tom kept it under 130. :-D
We met with several other Viper owners at the Mohican Resort & Conference Center:
As you can see, it was an absolutely gorgeous day for cruising: sunny and 82F.
Obligatory group shot:
(Names not listed to protect the guilty. LOL)
Tom had picked out a nice little 'lap' through the state park and slightly east toward State Route 83 (a road highly rated by a popular driving magazine). Into the cars we go....
There are a few covered bridges in the area....
...and the Clearfork Gorge that we stopped and peered down into:
I couldn't find any specs on it, but it's pretty deep (maybe 1500'?).
SHOT OF THE DAY!
After leaving the park, we stopped at this station for some liquid love for a couple of the cars:
They were out of gas!!!
Simply stunning.
Eventually we found a station that *did* have gas, and boy were we the highlight of that little town's weekend! Half a dozen kids came pedaling over on their bikes to check out the cars (and truck..heh heh), asking the owners all sorts of questions and giving high praise. It was pretty cool to see their eyes light up when they were told top speeds of the vehicles. LOL
On our way back toward Loudenville, we ran into this guy:
2500 HP vs. 1 HP. :-D
We found a nice pizza place and had a late lunch/early dinner, then everyone headed towards home.
Thanks to the VCA for the cool cruise through a nice section of north-central Ohio and the great company!
