Viper Will NO Longer Depreciate

Well, not entirely but... Not sure if you guys have covered this but clearly (and hopefully) Vipers will not be depreciating very much given the $15k drop. If it went down much more it won't be exotic.

My theory is that this $ reduction WILL in fact increase demand thereby reduce inventory/supply and cause pricing to bottom at $70kish for 13's even in out years. That could make the Viper GTR-like in terms of depreciation! 3 year old cars will be within $10-12k of new ones. It will not have same depreciating curve dipping into $50's like the last one did. Time will tell...

That holds true as long as the remaining inventory continues to sell. If we just get this one push, and then still have remaining 13/14 sitting in lots when they start making 15's we are in trouble. They will sell if dodge took notes. The public wants the car to absolutely kick ass at the track and be priced fairly. I for one hope prices don't drop too much more because I want to trade up to a '15 TA 2.0!

I guess I'm part of the lot that will wait for 15. Unless a dealer will make a meaningful deal on a 14. When do the 15's come out anyhow?

The reason the GTR has such excellent resale is because the car has INCREASED in price every year. Thats opposite of whats happened here.

If you bought an 09 GTR for $69k, you could probably sell it for that today, if not MORE depending on miles/mods. Crazy.

Fat from the 67 k they sold for new.

But because of increases in sales price anyone who actually got one for that price has to be smiling.

08 viper buyers did well as well. 90k 6 years ago and can still sell for 60k.

That is not the main reason GTR's hold value. They were priced in $60's originally. Yet produced in relatively low volumes while slaying everything else. Also it has a huge fan following in the x and millenials.

Viper was more $, no where near the same volume of fans. It is disappointing that many of us have come up NOT respecting American products - cars in particular. Kids in US should dream of Viper more than all else. This stigma issue isn't overcome so quickly. Also the media and pop culture (Fast and Furious for example) has trained praised and trained folks to respect high compression forced induction and look down "simple" displacement.

What is odd it that on paper tibia the Viper you would think has a bigger addressable market as most kids can't afford it anyhow. In any case this reduction should stimulate demand as people see more on road and realize how cool it is, inquire and see it is within their range etc. THEN like with GTR they can gradually raise price.

You are looking at ~50k+ miles for a 09 GTR in the $55k range. Look at autotrader and the gtr forum and you will see they are firmly priced into the mid/high 60's.
