Hello all! I just found out today that my car has also has been nominated as an entrant to the Sport Compact Car Magazine's Ultimate Street Car Challenge. There are 83 cars nominated. There are fourteen tests they do:

1. Car Show: self explanatory

2. Grandma test: Grandma sorts out which cars are comfortably usable in the real world.==> The Whine of the Heffner supercharger and the Sean Roe V-10 howling side exhaust will drown out grandma's screams!

3. Guru Panel: Panel of engineering gurus evaluates how tricked out the car is from an engineering perspective.

4. Driveability: self explanatory

5. Dyno: self explanatory

6. Base price: self explanatory

7. Emissions testing: self explanatory

8. Fuel Economy: self explanatory

9. Road course: Cars are timed around a road course

10. Skid Pad: The usual skid pad test

11. Braking: 60-0 MPH=> shortest distance wins

12. Acceleration: 1/4 Mile ET and trap speed

13. 0-60 time

14. Gross display of HP: Massive parking lot with no telephone poles===> Imagine the possibilities of going sideways at 100 MPH and not getting in trouble!

.........My car is almost done getting supercharged by Jason Heffner. In the Sport Compact Car article, In support of the Viper Community, I mention just about every tuner and person in the Viper community who has helped along the way to help me get various parts of this project done. I would love to show all my Supra and ricer friends exactly what an intercooled, supercharged V-10 MONSTER on Heffner steriods can do. Please vote for me I will do the Viper Community proud...... I will teach them the meaning of respect for the Viper as I do to all who come up against ENZO WHO every day on the street. Paolo Castellano

P.S. I am car #11 on the ballot. Just go buy the magazine, on P.155 there is a ballot. Please choose me and 9 other cars!!!!!!

Congratulations Paolo!! I'll be sure to place my vote for you! It looks like this Ultimate Street Car Challenge was written especially for you. I don't think I've ever met anybody that combines all the aspects of this challenge (road racing, pure performance, engineering, etc.) better than you. Somehow I think that #14 will be named after you after this competition. Good luck!!!

By the way, how do you vote? Make it easy for us!

Gary, you have to buy the Sport Compact Car magazine and tear out page 155 that has the all the possible cars on a grid. You pick the ten you want to see and compete and that's that.

Cool - way to go Paolo! Your car is going to be a monster - I think it'll raise more than a few eyebrows when it surfaces

...sniff... sniff ..sniff did you smell that?

it wasn't me...

I could have sworn I smelt a bit of fear in those whose cars might face a new king of the hill to compare too.... :D

Pity that shoot out does not include a top speed run - that'd sort out the 1/4 mile specialist cars from the real streeters....oh well.

Torquemonster, I can't smell anything yet as I have a cold until the car is done. You must have a keener sense of smell than I do, I hope you are right!

As far as the top speed run is concerned, we would just need to take care of that little detail about the tires that would handle 250+ MPH!

I do wish they would add a standing mile to the competition, I can't wait to do that one on a closed course!

Scott, I will be driving my car for the test! You will need to give me a few lessons on how to be a drag strip terror like yourself!!!!!! :coo]

Scott, like I said in an earlier post, the Whine of the Heffner supercharger and the Sean Roe side exhaust will drown out grandma's screams!

Hi Paolo, you will one of the ten I select for sure. I bought the magazine lastnight - it gave me an excuse to get my GTS out for a quick (and I do mean quick) trip to the grocery store. Good luck!

Actually, there is another guy in the magazine who literally has no legs and made his own controls to drive the car. He has an RX-7 turbo. He is ballot #33....==> We all have to vote for this guy; he has a lot of balls to say that if he is voted in all the contestants will know what it feels like to be beaten by a guy in a wheel chair! I have to meet this guy! I bet he is one bad MF!

Ill vote for you. Of course, unless your car gets its doors blown off by some 7 second Civic. :)

I doubt that will happen though.

I dont know about the guy in the wheelchair. Its a competition with the cars not a foot race. As long as his car is not handicap then him having no legs doesnt really matter. Or am I missing something.

Good luck man.

When do you get your car? We cant talk smack about it until you have it in your hands.

You definitely have my vote. A lot of people can talk the talk, but Paolo will back it up 100%. None of this 'estimated' top speed crap; he'll give you real speedometer readings. If you don't believe me come to Chicago and he will gladly show you. Just make sure you bring a change of underwear.

I can attest to this!! Paolo's THE man when it comes to freaky speed (I've seen the video!) He's the only guy who has gone for a ride in my car and yelled for me to go faster when the tires were burning off in the 120+ MPH range.

Video - you have a video?

Where can we find it? It was taken on a closed track right? :p

I'd love to see it!

Torquemonster, Do you even need to ask if the video was taken on a closed course? Of course it was on a closed course I had ice water coursing through my veins, The pavement was coarse which got the tires hot and made for a beautiful 360 with a smoking set of rears in 2nd gear at the 360 degree mark after the correction. Classic!
