There now seems to be enough San Diego guys around to get something going for an afternoon or ????

Let me know what you guys think.

You got that right...lots of new Viper owners in San DIego. Time for them to meet the rest of the members.

We were planning a big party at the Chrysler speed classics on Coronado, but that has been cancelled due to the hightened security at the Navy Base.

If anyone wants I could set up a meet at Brian's Classic cars in Mira Mesa. In addition to their collection of muscle cars, they have a great old time malt shop, and plenty of parking...Maybe a cruise after a short get together and lunch or dinner.

Other suggestions???

Also could meet at the stadium for a SCCA autocross.

Hey now that SCCA thing sounds good to me! Maybe a short run
ending with a nice dinner somewhere?

Hey Ulysses, what's that yellow side sill mod cost?

Sunday Oct 7th there will be a small run of cars from Bonita
to a casino close by for brunch if anyone is interested? I'll be
going and several other cars from vettes to z08's.

Sheyster,

Sounds good to me, between you and Paul i'd say we have a good
start for a local club. I too don't like going all the way up
to LA just to get to the event

Something closer sounds great to me!

All,

I am definately up for a Dynoday or any other event. Got the headers and flywheel on so I would like to see a new Dyno chart. In Dallas we had a regularly scheduled once a month get together. Hung out at a diner that had parking and decent food. It was a blast just to get together to swap stories and lies.

Going to Willow Springs this Sat. to run the track again. I try to make a lot of the SCCA events as well.

San Diego Vipers,

I'd be up to same cruisin', dinner? dyno? Unfortunately I work most Saturdays which can screw up things. Went up to El Toro, that's about the max. I like to drive for an event. Up at 6:00a.m. on a rare day off.! Not good. Let's figure out something.

Sheyster,
I'd be for getting a local group together.

As for Carlsbad, I'm with Ulysses. I'll take my Z06 there, but
my Dark Blue Viper will never see dirt there or anywhere else.
The SCCA stuff might be a differant story

I'm also sure we can get some support from David Jenkins, Dan Cragin, and probably ElCajon Dodge?

So let's get something going!

Sheyster,

I'm a member of saferacing too. Which sponsor are you?
What do we need to get started? I can provide web stuff and even
a meeting place, but it's in Chula Vista. We may want to meet
somewhere closer in to town? Or we could meet somewhere differant
each time? If we want to include other types of cars I know of
a several other guys down here that would like to at least get together with a bunch of Vipers.
Then again ******* is always a fun place to meet and conduct
serious business

And it's centrally located.

Unless you park up close and Vipers take up all the spaces up front, I wouldn't park it at *******. It is a small lot and everytime I've gone there have been close calls. Though I do see a lot of bimmers and mercedes there.

Sheyster, you have mail.

Ulysses, to be part of this group, you'll have to bring your car
out sometime. ("too much dirt", "parking lot too small", "Side sills not yellow enough yet", etc. etc. etc.)

The parking lot is small, but I'm sure we could figure something
out and I'm sure there are plenty of other places so not to fear.

No need for a San DIego Club. It would be far more fun and easier for us to use the well established SoCal Club to coordinate through. In addition many Orange County, Riverside and other area Club Members would want to drive down and join any local events.
We already have a National VCA, Zone Directors, Regional Presidents, and Boards of Directors. All we need is some local phone # and e-mails then notify local President so everybody can be invited. Real easy, informal, and already organized and set up.
Most club members do not have e-mail, so just using a web-net would leave many people out of the loop.

I checked with Brians...They have a band scheduled for Noon this Saturday, and plenty of parking. I was thinking of stopping by for one of their fantastic steak hamburgers, and a Hagen-Daz Milkshake.
Anyone want to hold a short get together there, or would a Friday Night be better?

Paul,
That Steak Hamburger sounds great, but I am the Cub Master of
our Cub Scout group and we have an outing Saturday. I'm sure I could make is Saturday evening or Sunday, otherwise it would have
to be another time for me

VCA SoCal covers you guys in Slam Diego too. We grew this region the way you guys want to do it... by picking up the ball and planning events and having a good time. Anytime we asked the SoCal region to help with publicity, emails and sometimes $$, they were there for us. You really don't need or want to reinvent the wheel by forming your own club. We already have too many directors!! Just plan your events and call Doug Dye to include your activities in mailings, the club newsmag and he will do emails for you.

Maybe us OC guys will drive down to play in your sandbox. By the way, you have the "Dead President" in your area. Frank Creede might be a good resource for you and if I can help by telling you how we did things in the good old days when we got lots of support and skid from Dodge, feel free to email me. Great to hear there is so much interest in SoCal.

Sheyster -

We don't need a local club in San Diego. Create an event: lunch, dinner, whatever and let Doug Dye know so that he can coordinate with the calendar. The most important thing is to just do it.

There are plenty of cars here, we just need to get the word out.

Hope to see you soon.

Best regards,

Frank Creede

Sheyster, I feel your pain. I wouldn't be too happy either if I had to drive to LA every time for an event. That's why this club is cool. If YOU want to do a particular event, get it organized. The SoCal chapter welcomes these ideas from thier club members. Many of the events done these days are a result of a club members idea. I'm sure they would do everything to help promote the event. If you just want to get a few guys together for lunch or something, then do that. I personally wish there was a djdunit south Orange County chapter!! Sometimes I'll call a handfull of clients and friends and we do breakfast. 5-10 cars usually. The problem is that some people get tweaked that they weren't invited! I do think that San Diego should have someone, in a leadership role, that everyone can get info from. I would love to attend your "just north of the boarder" events. I have several customers from your area, and it never hurts to let people know we're only a short drive up the 5.

Wow! I love when we have this much enthusiasm, and Paul and Bill are right! Doug would be ecstatic to initiate and formerly title your enthusiasm with an official position...maybe "event coordination team" or "San Diego event leader".

The advantage is you'll have full access to publishing and documenting events in our two publications, using the website, obtaining funding through National AND your region, use Viper logos and official Dodge graphics, AND will always have the ability to invite the entire region to charitable or track events (which obviously would drive the cost down per person, or increase the potential charitable contribution). It seems your idea of keeping it "only Vipers" fits right into the existing gameplan...so why reinvent the wheel? You can STILL have "fun" by making up shirts that say "San Diego Snakes" or whatever you have in mind ... you can even have San Diego oriented meetings/events, as many of our regions have to do as they cover a 2 or 3 state area.

The more the merrier!
