Gave her a little burn out for friends and noticed something was wrong? I found a 1/2" hole in my rear end...........Had her towed home and I'm a little nervous to find out what exactly went wrong. I'm guessing to much power from the SC if that is the case No warranty Right? Wow, I've had better days...........Hey No Tears I'm Not A Wuzzie!

Hey sorry to hear about that, when I saw the title I figured you were at the track. Because breaks at the track are a dime a dozen. As far as the warranty goes i'm not 100% sure, but depending how well you know your dealer/shop i'm sure something can be worked out to a degree. Also while it's in the air... either yourself or have the shop re-check ALL bolts underneith to make sure nothing else worked lose or got bent. Take care, hope all that works out quick as possible :)

Think of it this way: half inch hole in the differential is about $10k cheaper than a half inch hole in one of the pistons! Plus now you have a reason to upgrade.

Phonenix is right. And when you do upgrade just think... with those bigger driveline parts that will help fight that whole 15% driveline lose deal. However if you do decide to go to the track, drag specifically really watch out. I've seen even Unitrax half shafts snap like twigs and rear ends blow out with slicks and a little added HP of course. Unless you can afford one of those nifty 2 speed powerglides, very nice. Thats the set up Chad uses in his bummble bee and is good for an 8.28 @ 177 for now.... :2tu:

Rear end or "pumpkin" are other names for it. Or as I have herd it referenced to many times as... "the ball lookin thing in the middle of the axel when you look under the rear of the car". Also when you hear or see fourms that mention 3.55 or 3.07 gears ratios and all. The pumpkin or "ball lookin thing in the middle" is the housing for it all :)

You know pumpkin might be a better word as the small mechanism that determines what torque goes to what rear wheel is actually the differential and the pumpkin as your dad calls it is the housing with both the ring and pinion gears and differential inside of it along with the various bearings/seals/yokes to make it all work. Just to throw another one out, some folks call it the third member.

Unitrax rebuilt mine for around for I think betweek $,200.00 to $1,500.00. Sorry for being so vague but its the best I can remember.

So if you give me $9,000.00 I'll pick up you car and trailer it over to Unitrax to get fixed. (what a pal eh?)

Seriously I don't think its much over $2K unless your housing is destroyed which it sounds like it might be.

I'd maybe look at picking up a used one off e-bay. Thats what I did when I screwed up my tranny. Replaced it myself and its still rocking and rolling after 15K miles.

just curious to know why you would put on a paxton while your car had an extended warrenty? you would have to figure that what ever happens to the car that is expensive your dealer is going to balk on you. being that these warrenties are able to be cancelled with a prorata refund i may look into seeing what kind of cash value the warrenty has today if they make you pay for the repairs. just my .02
