Dainiel,
1.) The 3yr/36,000 mile factory warranty is transferable to the new buyer of your car since it "stays with the car"
2.) The Dodge 7 yr/100,000 mile powertrain warranty promo has been extended through July 8th. You have this on your car. This is NOT transferable to a 2nd owner. Subject to a $100 deductible, it would only be useful to YOU, the original owner after the full 3 yr/36,000 mile warranty expires and it applies to the powertrain components only. See:
www.dodge.com and click Viper or any other car and you'll see a small icon with the 7 yr/100,000 mile powertrain warranty which you can click on for all the fine print. Again, it's a great freebie but is NOT TRANSFERABLE.
3.) Chrysler Extended Warranty: Go here:
www.servicecontracts.chrysler.com These typically are just SLIGHTLY cheaper if bought very early in the vehicle's life (compared to buying it in year two or three). They are transferable ONE TIME only and they have a small transfer fee in most states.
IN ADDITION, I have been told by dealers that those of us who have bought new Vipers recently enough to have the free 7 yr/100,000 mile powertrain warranty should be able to get a LOWER price on the Chrysler extended warranty service contracts since we've already got the powertrain covered. I haven't gone shopping for this so I haven't verified the accuracy of this but it makes some sense to me. Interesting to note that even though a number of Viper owners arranged for group buys of the Chrysler service contract early this year at a favorable price, Viper owners with the 7yr/100,000 mile powertrain warranty should be able to do even better.
Also, for those who live in Florida (and states with similar laws), make sure to shop around for the Chrysler service contract OUTSIDE OF THE STATE OF FLORIDA. Why you ask? Because in Florida, these service contracts MUST be sold at "MSRP" supposedly because the state fears dealers might mark them up! No one in Florida though about how this moronic MSRP requirement prohibits discounting too!
