Where does this screw go???

Dad & I were changing the oil today - and there was a screw on the magnet on the drain plug.

He seems to think it goes to a baffle inside the pan....... and that it's not a critical screw. I told him i'd post on here for a second opinion...

What do ya'll think?

Yeah.. that was my though. My dad walks over and was like "check out what was stuck to the magnet" like it was no big deal.

I'm just not a big fan of random screws showing up places....

When I had my valve covers off I used removable lock tight on them.

I would find out where that screw came from. Really no such thing as a non-critical part in the engine. If one screw is out, the next may follow.

baffle screw is my vote.

It doesn't look like a baffle screw. My baffles had hex bolts attaching them.

Ditto...been there
No big deal, at your leisure pull the pan remove all screws, clean everything, locktite screws back in place. You should be able to reuse your pan gasket too.
