Woohoo, my first Viperdays I'm gonna go for rookie of the year. I am looking forward to meeting alot of the people face to face who I have interacted with on this forum. So whose going? Look me up when you get there I have a black 2000 RT/10 license plate "U8 DUST".

I would like to go on Saturday to watch. Anyone in Orange County driving up?

I was at Streets of Willow a couple of weekends ago (driving the Porsche with POC) and watched the Alfa club running on the big track. There were a couple of Vipers there. Looks a bit intimidating... not sure I'm ready for the big toy on the big track

There are only a couple of spots that are intimidating. Driving on the track felt sooooo good that it actually made me a bit overconfident. Big mistake. Don't let the intimidation stop you. You have to drive this track at least once in your lifetime because it really is a blast. No better time to do it than Viper Days as well because you will have an instructor with you that drives a Viper and has driven the track. There is an alternative to driving your car at the track. Though pricey relative to running your own car, you can take a class through GP motorsports (I believe that's the name) and they will provide the car and instruction. Tom Glenn is the proprieter and is on this board often. If you miss this event, there is one coming up in February at Button Willow (Which I here is a more technical track, read not as fast, and better to learn on). How did you like the streets of Willow? I had a great time running on that track as well. Much more forgiving if you run off.

SOW is awesome for Boxsters. Not sure it would be as fun in the Viper since the straights aren't very long. I'm still just getting comfortable driving my GTS. I've owned mostly small sports cars and the Snake is big and mean

. I love it though. I'm getting better heel & toeing it now. Took a little practice since the pedals aren't quite as nice as the Porsche or BMW.

I heard the same thing about Buttonwillow... very technical (lots of turns). I'd like to try that track in my Porsche possibly with Trackquest.

Yeah, Craig, no pressure or anything, but Ron will be out there driving the sh** out of his car trying at all cost to be faster than me (if I show), or at the least to win some fictional "rookie of the year" award. So, it's not like it's competitive or anything....

Craig you gotta bring and drive the Viper, even for just one day. This was the first track I drove on. It is not very difficult or technical until you start pushing the edge. It is a great beginner track and no better time then Viperdays with lots of Viper intensive instruction if so desired.

Venom Lover I hope you can make it for a day, I'll show you a few tricks I've learned to cut your times.

I'm planning on comming Sat. but I'm very new to this viper stuff. I can only say I'm hooked. Doesn't it cost like $500 to drive and well.. having an RT like mine what are the rules. I'd love to be able to drive with out fear from law enforcement at least.

In a nutshell, for just Sat. it's $250, you'll need a hardtop or rollbar for the RT, long pants, long sleeved shirt and a snell rated helmet, you may need gloves but I'm not sure. I hope ou can make it.

I've heard they have something called Arrive and Drive. This is where you can set up to drive or fly in and drive the Viper Days Vipers on the track. You don't have to use your car under this program. I'm not sure if it is at all Viper Days events or not. You should call Skip at Viper Days and look into it if you are not sure about driving your Viper or it's to far to drive to get to an event.

I'm going to check it out, early on Sat morning. (Gotta wash and wax, first!) Does anyone want to form a Viper convoy from Orange County? Maybe we could meet at Irvine Spectrum, or South Coast Plaza, or???

I might be interested in a caravan from O.C. Let me know where you plan on meeting. What time does the event start on Saturday anyway?

Hopefully when I show up it won't be in a nutshell

but then again.....

Thanks to everyone for being so helpful. I've been looking into getting a roll bar. I'd also be interested in getting a hard top. There seem to be some advantages and disadvantages to both.

Given a choice which would be more acceptable on the track? I have a strong feeling the rollbar would be. I also noticed there is no requirement for arm restraints, correct? I seriously doubt I'll be driving this time but I am working toward that end someday. I'm in the learning stages right now.

Again, thanks and I am looking forward to meeting some of you Sat.

If the logistics can be worked out I wouldn't mind joining the caravan should one be formed. That is if you guys don't mind a hick from Riverside tagging along.

I will be going up for my first Viper days also. I will be there on Sunday only - I have an NCAA umpire clinic in Northridge on Saturday, so I am half the way there. Otherwise, I would have loved to caravan up on Saturday morning. See everybody there Saturday night at the Desert Inn hotel.

Backdoc7, ffoote, SSpeedracer, Bad_Byte, So Cal Craig, anybody else I missed,

If any one wants to call me and set up a time and place, they can call me at 949-413-5288. Try a couple of times before you give up, its Pacific Bell, you know. I was thinking of waiting at the park and ride, at the 5 fwy and Jeffrey off ramp, until a couple of the Mission Viejo crowd cruise on up. I'd like to be rolling at least by 6:30 am. I wont be on line again until late evening, so if you post here I wont see it till late.

ffoote, if that is your real name, (HE-he), your idea sounds a lot more interesting than just staying on the 5 and the 14 through everything I've already seen before! A much more adventurous plan! I'm in! Anyone else game?

The 138 is full of CHP. BE VERY CAREFUL. Last time I took the 138 from the 15, there was nothing but semis and little old ladies... and CHP.

Since I live in the Riveside area I'll be going up the 138. Its been a while since I traveled that road, I know they were doing some work on it but I don't think it involved passing lanes. As I remember there were a few places to pass, but its been a while as I said.

It would be great to catch you all along the 15. I anticipate hitting the road around 7:30am tomorrow, earlier if possible. Call me and I'll join. 909-553-2925
