Alan,
SoCal was in the upper 12's, but that was due to absolutely terrible traction. I was in the upper 11's on slicks, and I was having a terrible time hooking up as well. It was very cold, and sort of slightly misty. I don't think the track was ever really dry.
Makara and Alan,
I'd be up...
Allen,
Congrats, and it's good to have a fellow drag racing addict. SoCal Rebell has become more of a road racing snob these days. He talks a lot of smack over at ls1.com, but I don't know that he's backed it up by racing any of those guys since we went up to Famoso in December. (BTW, Famoso...
Herman,
All of your points are correct. In particular, I believe DC knows today exactly what the SRT will cost. What they appear to be debating still is how much profit they will take on the vehicle, i.e., what the price to us consumers will be. Even that appears to have been decided, at...

Oh, one other thing, why Corsa catbacks and not Belanger or Borla? The Corsa tips look the nicest, but for a young guy like you, don't you want the car to be raucously loud???
Ryan,
You've been one very patient individual. I know you've waited a long time for this and deferred gratification longer than most of us could. Congrats! She's a beauty!

Mike,
Wow, so much for your status as unofficial spokesman for PVO and anti-whiner extrordinaire!
As you (and others) have vehemently argued, Dodge doesn't owe us anything, and we just need to get with the program, which apparently includes an information embargo.
JonB,
I think 1995 is...

Tested the theory that Corvette owners don\'t wave....
I was on my way just now to the grocery store, and I saw a C5 approaching. We were going opposite ways and both came to a stop sign at the same time. I waved and got an eager wave back.
Two blocks later, same thing with another C5 (both...
Re: Mustangs and Camaro\'s
I agree with those who say lighten up, the Rustang and F-body guys are mostly just out there to have fun. What can it hurt to give a rev back (well, I guess if you have stock exhaust it may be a little embarrassing)? It's all in good fun.
The Vette guys I see on...
Guys, reread 00prowler's original post. He got beat by the WRX in his Prowler, so he sold it and bought the '96 GTS. Congrats!
Now, that being said, the AWD on the WRX will still give him a slight advantage off the line until you learn to handle your 480 hp monster. (That's right, if/when...
Mike,
I'm happy for you that you liked the car in person. Since you are Dodge's unofficial PR person for the SRT, I guess it's not surprising to hear you saying nice things.
Hey, as far as the performance numbers, 11.8 sounds pretty disappointing to me, given that people are that quick today...
Keith,
Interesting and well thought out points. I hope for DC's sake they don't think they're going after the Corvette crowd with the SRT, because they've priced themselves at least $20K out of the picture if so. On the other hand, let's think about the mentality of someone who buys a...
Sorry, Steve, I'm still not buying into the "performance rules all" theory. Brunton hit it on the head. DC dumbed down the looks of the SRT to appeal to a different market. Look at the design studies; more interesting alternatives were considered.
Does .02 (or whatever small) difference in...
Cool opportunity, Joe!
A follow-on to Dave's hardtop question....I hear the hardtop is coming in the middle of the model year. Will those who get their cars early be able to get the factory hardtop after the fact, and if so at the cost of the option (as opposed to at the cost of the part...

Mike,
I know you and I have already had this discussion many times over....But....
Yes, I will concede that the look of the SRT is based in part on improving performance. I'll also concede that part of the objective was to address a broader market. With respect to the former, I'm on record...

Sorry, Mike, but I don't get the point of view that somehow aggressive looks and performance are mutually exclusive. Based on the styling studies for the SRT in the fall '01 Viper Quarterly, it's clear that more aggressive styling alternatives were considered.
With the exception of top speed...

Those are '96/'97 wheels you got there? Anyway, I like them better than the stock 3-spoke wheels. Glad you recovered.
If it's any consolation on the weather, it's the same deal up here in the South Bay....
