DC Finally has its Corvette

quote:
Originally posted by Mike Brunton: Venom, Numbers are one thing - how the car actually performs is another thing entirely . Who would guess that the LT-1 Corvette would be so much quicker with "only" 50hp more? Or that the C5...

    New Whiners Forum

Gosh, you guys sound awfully defensive. Hey, Mike, are you saying that, even though I'm behaving badly, you'll still hang out with me at VOI 7 (if I decide to drop the $1.4K plus shipping and handling for Dot and me)? Also, if you look at corvetteforum.com, you'll find that the C4 forums...

    New Whiners Forum

I have a better idea. Since those who prefer SRT-10 styling seem to be in the minority, maybe they should be the ones to get shipped off to a separate forum. Didn't you know, this is the SRT and VGX whiners only forum?

    Creampuff? I don't think so!

Re: Creampuff? I don\'t think so! Ok, I give up. I admit the newer Vipers aren't creampuffs since they have nicer wheels, ABS, better fan, and above all else, a smaller rounder key fob. For those in the Viper community who value power, the non-creampuff years definitely have an advantage...

    Creampuff? I don't think so!

Re: Creampuff? I don\'t think so! Matt, Sure, DC has claimed the same 450 bhp for all Gen II cars. That doesn't mean they all dyno the same. Ford got in trouble with the '99 Cobras because they dyno'd below Ford's claim. DC is ok (at least as far as owners are concerned) so long as the cars...

    Creampuff? I don't think so!

Re: Creampuff? I don\'t think so! My '97 GTS dyno'd at 425 rwhp and 467 ft-lbs bone stock. My '01 GTS dyno'd at 415 rwhp and 450 ft-lbs with Corsa 3" catback as the only mod. Sorry I didn't do a totally stock base run for reasons I won't go into here. What do you figure the catbacks are...

    dyno question

It will make a difference in the corrected results, but not in the actual results. The correction will account for temperature. I don't know how much of a difference 70 vs. 95 would make in corrected results -- maybe 5%. This message has...

WHO, at Viper Magazine doesn't know how to count???

Re: WHO, at Viper Magazine doesn\'t know how to count??? Details. Some people are so fussy. Though, if you think about it, the 1992 was first sold in, what, September 1991? So technically the Viper turned 10 in September and will turn 11 this September. The cover of the mag doesn't say...

Why is Dodge advertising the '03 Viper SRT-10?

Re: Why is Dodge advertising the \'03 Viper SRT-10? This is what the ad says to me: "People who buy Vipers are old farts who can't get it up." Sorry, but that ad really turns me off. SRT styling: strike one Bad ad campaign: strike two ....

When's it time for a new clutch????

Re: When\'s it time for a new clutch???? Hey, SoCal, how ya doin'??? I'm actually taking the day off from work today! Unfortunately, I had to spend the morning reviving my battery which went dead.... For me, I found that it was time to replace the clutch after a hundred or so launches at the...

This post is 1 year in the making, I bought my GTS!!!

Ryan, Congrats! Welcome to the club! At first I had my doubts, but after we exchanged some e-mails, I knew you had been "bitten" and would end up with a Viper some day. I'm glad you got what you wanted! You are right on. Enjoy the car stock for a while, get a good baseline, and savor each...

    Fun question ->

25-40 years is so far off that it's hard to speculate on $$ value. That being said, I do believe the Gen I/II Viper will go down as an all-time American classic, and I happen to agree with your view that styling-wise, the SRT just doesn't have the uniqueness or the wow-factor required to be a...

Do you think the SRT should look like this?

I've been really busy at work recently, so I haven't had as much time as I'd like to come over here and read all this stuff, but I have to ask one question.... Brunton, how much money is Dodge paying you to defend the SRT???

One nice pic from TO Autoshow.......

Based on the above responses from BAKNBLAK and Daffy, I would say: So much for the theory that it's only GTS owners who don't like the SRT styling.... (Sorry I haven't been around much lately to help stir up the pot, but things are crazy at work.)

Guess what the SRT price will be...

What I would like to see Dodge charging for the '03: $69,500. What I think they will actually charge (my official entry in this contest): $78,000. I also am of the opinion Dodge will not pass savings in cost along to the consumer. P.S., I prefer Cubans....Either for the cigar or exotic...

Comments from Arizona Proving Grounds 1-20-02

Wow! Looks great! I would seriously have considered the red interior trim in a red or black Viper if that had been offered. I had the mod red interior on my black Z06, and I thought it looked great.

quote:
Originally posted by CobraCam: I'm actually much more concerned about how the aerodynamics of the SRT are going to be changed. From what I hear, we have a convertible here capable of topping 200mph. That's no small feat, since...

    NO SRT-10 COUPE!

Sorry I've been out of the loop for a few days. Very busy at work. You know, have to do some work to be able to afford Viper goodies. Anyway.... Steve, I never said Dodge was misleading anybody. Strictly speaking, you are correct that Dodge is producing what it showed (though I don't know...

Certificate Program #3 for the coupe? I vote yes

Keith, So your idea is people who are "slamming" the SRT should buy one and hang onto it for years, despite the fact that they obviously don't like the car, in hopes that if some day Dodge builds a street-legal coupe, which is at least 4 years off, they will be first in line to get it, maybe...
