    Wanna-Be Viper designers needed

If you are going to represent the GTS, I think it should be stock blue w/ white stripes and black interior ala 1996. The car should be sitting on original MXX3 tires as well. No "fufu" or non stock items. This is the definitive GTS and would be a true representation of a classic and historically...

Change gears or entire rear end?

When I sent my car to Hennessey for the 650R upgrade, I had a year and a half of factory warranty left on the car. My local dealer still honored "any part or system" on the car that was original or unmodified by HMS. Examples were a broken door hinge, power steering pump, and a fog light...

    block heater

Why would you need one? I live in Montana and have never needed one on my Viper. I routinely see sub zero temperatures. A good 50/50 mix of antifreeze protects just fine and starting is no problem. If you run in colder weather, use a oil viscosity recommended in your owners manual.

Lightened Flywheel – Would you do it again?

    1. YES, in a heartbeat! 2. Slight lope with heavy mods but not objectionable. 3. Hennessey did the installation, so I don't know, but in 30K miles no issues.

    Cigarette lighter dead...possible causes?

Mike, Just a thought, you might want to check and see if your G-Teck has it's own fuse. Sometimes the accessory plug houses a safety fuse. As far as checking the other fuses, just go to the PDC on the drivers side of the engine compartment and pull one fuse at a time to examine if a metal link...

    Cigarette lighter dead...possible causes?

Although you don't think it's the fuse FYI: "The cigar lighter is powered by a 15 amp fuse located in cavity 4 of the power distribution center (PDC), on circuit F30. The fuse is hot at ALL times. Helpful hints.... Check the fuse. Check for a good ground at the instrument panel ground. Check the...

    Radar/Laser Countermeasures

Hi Robert, An interesting anecdote to the previous posts; on of the states (Colorado?) was using the photo speed system, and was paying a portion of every ticket written to "the manufacturer" as a kick back to pay for the system. A State judge ruled last summer that this was illegal & unethical...

If you have a battery that is 3+ years old, you may be due for a change. This is the most common culprit and a good place to start.

    Tire pressure gauges

John, don't be to quick to blame your tire gauge. Center tire wear is a common problem with hi performance cars. The center rib carries more weight than the rest of the tread aria and thus wears faster with aggressive driving. Consider the force exerted on those tires every time you accelerate...

    1998 Viper parts catalog

Parts Microfiche etc used by your friendly Dodge dealer I believe are still considered property of DaimlerChrysler Corp and are not available to the general public. If you have a "in" with your dealer, maybe they might part with a old set on the qt, otherwise, your best bet is a body shop...

Almost had my worst fears come true tonight

Lee, I was advised not to wrap the pipes under the sills because of possible fire problems. I never did it, so I don't know if there is any validity to it or not. You might check with Jon B.

Almost had my worst fears come true tonight

YIKES! Close call Lee. Never underestimate the value of a "on board" fire extinguisher. Taco Bell might not be so handy next time! Stupid Question: Did you have the inside of the side sills coated with anything, or the pipes wrapped with heat tape etc?

And owners wonder why our insurance premiums are so high. I think our crash rate is one of the worst in the industry, and I suspect it is largely due to incidents like this one.
