I have never looked at the workings of the cable from under the car....sometimes when the lever is pulled up I can tell the cable has slipped off something....it doesn't tighten up. Pull it a few times and it "catches". Its annoying but not the end of the world. Is the fix easy or difficult...
As the owner of a Henny 650R that was NOT AT ALL what it was supposed to be (I spent a lot of time and money fixing it), you do need to watch out for the engine mods....and a dyno is the easy way to tell that. The other mods are visible from 20 feet away (aero) and from under the car ...
OK so the birdcage is driving me insane. I think the large pin on my pedal linkage has had the "head" break off of it......the large pin over which the rod end goes is just a cylinder.....it has no d*ck head for the birdcage to grab. I'm done with this plastic pox on humanity.
Gotta try the...
When I lived in the city, my neighbor said his wife had to be careful to make sure none of the wine glasses in the cabinet were close/touching or they would all "sing" and clink when I backed out of the adjoining driveway. Apparently she didn't mind the adaptation......
I have even written to the Oreca boys (in French for good measure) asking for any left over parts.....no dice. If you find them please post the identity of the place after you buy what you want!
Its not just the ethanol that'll be an issue, but the gas itself breaks down with age. I use Stabil and it seems to work well enough. One tank of gas a year is difficult to manage.
Happy for you that the heat/fire didn't compromise the painted fiberglass pieces (or if it did the damage was minor). Sills are likely easier and cheaper to replace than a hood or door panel.
I know this likely isn't helpful, but I've not seen a proper racing harness affixed to anything other than a rollcage element. It might be possible but you're going to have to find secure mounting points somewhere, otherwise the harness will be unsafe. No worries if its just for show.
I wish it were different but that kind of HP and TQ would require all other weak links to be totally redone. Not likely for even a halo car that doesn't sell a lot of copies. Hope I'm wrong ;-)
American Motors was known for doing goofy stuff (witness stuff like Gremlin, Pacer, Matador etc) so its not surprising that they messed around with a rumble seat in a muscle car (390 ci AMXs are probably legit muscle cars right?). Rather than do this to an RT 10 lets just enjoy the trip down...
OK, spoke too soon. O'Reillys has generic relays that have the 86 pin offset enough to allow just cutting that pin in half......so the hole doesn'r matter. That's easy.
The question about why I end up blowing them is still of interest. I blew the original one (presumably from 1998) and...
Just one more bit of guidance needed. I have a couple of relays and see pin 86 so I can trim it down. Question is, how much does it need to be trimmed? The 86 pin on the generic relays has a hole in the center which is unfortunately lined up with where the really thin pin on the Viper relay...
A FGT would do it for me as well, though they seem to be trading in the mid-to-high 2's now. Holy crap. What a bargain, a $35,000 GTS is on par (emotionally) with a FGT at almost an order of magnitude more....
