I just want to see some documentation of a showroom stock wedge car that was picked up at the dealership, taken to the track ad knocked of an 11.0, c'mon maxwedgie, post it up.

You are kidding yourself if you think there aren't mopar people on this board.

1969 Hemi GTX, we have the exact A4 Silver matching convertible, yes HEMI as well, awaiting resto, this and a HEMI cuda are on the go right now.

Maxwedge,
I sure would like to see my four questions answered, see above post. The answers would make your actual claims a little easier to understand.

Superstock cars were different but then I didn’t say they weren’t different. But thanks Captain obvious for pointing it out. Your point tho is a non issue...My point was and always has been that Super Stock cars were purchasable by anyone from almost any dealership and for little more than 2x the base cars cost. My other point is that not all old mopars are cream puffs and that is the point I was trying to drive home. Also note, the only reason you want to eliminate the price factor is because it makes your comparison to a Viper GTS-R weak..not because it(the Price comparison) an invalid measure. Thanks again tho

Well then let's turn this around on you okay? The only reason you want to include price factor is that it makes you look like an all out genius. You're comparing mid 60's pricing to mid 90's pricing. How bout we compare the price of a gallon of gas then to what it is now..totally irrelevant. So what if you could just walk into a dealership and buy one, to get a GTS-R you had to have the $$ and a race team, what's the diff? why buy a race car if you're not going to race it? I don't think people were saying they are creampuff's (with the exception of maybe one person) compared to car's of thier day, but compared to the Viper they pretty much are. So there is a handfull of cars that will run 11's as you say (how many of those were built again?) but that's compared to about 15K Viper's total production. Show me any 15K musclecars (regardless of make) that could line up against a stock Viper and win. Ain't gonna happen. Tell ya what, go drive a Viper, then jump in your musclecar and tell me how slow it feels, or toss it into that corner and have fun with all that understeer. You'd be hard pressed to find another mopar enthusiest of my age that absolutely loves mopars from 1964-1971 and 1985-present. There are fast musclecars, can't deny that but nowaday's, if you're stock, you better have at least a 440 or you could get embarassed on the street.

now there's the ultimate comeback, but hey it was better than the "oh that's real mature" I like how by saying that you act like you are in such disgust of my reply that it not even worth of a response. I don't see what was so offensive in what I said. All I want is to see PROOF of this 11 second run in a car taken from the showroom. You have failed to do so. Is it even more insulting for you to know you've been arguing with a 19 year old kid?

Empty life?? Nah, I just come here to bug people like you when I have time when I'm not working, gotta pay for school somehow.

Love this topic...old vs. new. OK, here's my version, and very honest! Worked in a speed shop while going to college in the mid/late '60's. Worked on all the hot cars...'68 and '69 Hemi Roadrunners, dual quad stock Z-28's ('67's), all kinds of wild and hairy Mustangs ('late '60's) and GTO's and 442's. Pure Stock to modified. In 1967/68, our 1965 "D" Stock class GTO would run on the world's record for the 1/4 mile...12.7 seconds. Stock allowed blueprinting heads, slicks, open headers but no really serious modifications. The next slower class was called "Pure Stock"...that allowed no modifications at all. Stock tires, factory headers, no nothing altered. You could remove the air cleaner and the spare tire for weight reduction and run them at the strip. Absolutely no modifications allowed. NO car ever got in the 12's....NONE of them. Best ever we saw was a 440-six pack that got in the mid 13's. Sooo, for what I've seen, there is some BS flying around. Oh yeah....Super Stock, FX (which stands for Factory Experimental) where not available to the ordinary buyer. My '99GTS with its few mod's and all emissions legal, will and would have destroyed any of those old girls...not BS, fact.
