whoa! 3350ci - do you think we could fit one of those in the Viper? That would have made an amazing amount of torque

And the R3350 was a hemi, knew you would like that?

I don't know off the top of my head how much torque it had. There were larger radials. There was a 28 cyl with 4 banks of 7cyl. I think it had 4600cubes.

These big radials put an end to the water cooled engines that had dominated the fighter plane universe at the end of WW2.
The Merlin V12 was cool but it couldn't beat the big radials as they got bigger and better.

And then the jets came along and spoiled it all. ;-)
