How many 2015 engine failures have you guys seen?

Just curious are the odds of avoiding failure any better by going with a 2015 vs 13,14?

With that said, not sure if even I would worry about a new 13,14 at this point.

Thanks for replying ViperJeff, your saying you wouldn't purchase a 13,14. Im seeing about a 10 grand difference between used 13,14 and a new 15. The engine failure is my only concern.

On cars with low miles, his response to me was" observing break in is important, what few engine failures I have seen have been solely because of the driver. These
Engines are but to endure abuse but it's important to remember break in".

I have been following the internet posts on engine failures and recalls. I only remember reading of one 2015 engine failure reported. I am also in the market for a Gen V. Now that the recalls are in place, I have no issue with buying a 2013 or 2014 at all. The only part that is hard to judge is what is the value perceived by other people. In my view, they should not be valued less for this issue if the recall (r28) has been completed. Either they passed, and showed no signs of damage; or, they will have had a brand new 2016 engine installed. So, they either will be like any other used performance car, or they will be better, in that they have a new engine.

I bought my new 2014 GTS last October its been in the shop for almost a month now. Supposedly there was metal shavings in the oil and i have recieved no word yet on whats gonna happen. Not to mention the no start issue ive been having that they still cant fix. I just got an attorney to apply the lemon law!

It appears the "danger zone" is from 1-6000 or so miles. Whats the highest mileage failure you have seen? I have not heard of any 2015 failing, mostly 2013 and 2014's. I am in the market for a G5 and this **** always makes me second guess buying! I am trying to find one with some higher miles and of course all recalls done.

I just bought my 2014 GTS about 3 weeks ago. I am the absolute most diligent car buyer anyone has ever seen. I have done my research as well and you are fine as long as the recall has been done. And in most cases the cars that had total engine failure were driven hard and not broken in properly. Dan Cragin of SPT does all the work on my Vipers and I trust him 110% He even told me not to worry. (as long as the recall was done) If you look at any high performance sports cars Vettes,Camaro,Challenger and all the other foreign stuff they all have engine failures. The difference is the production numbers. Our Vipers are such a small production run people make a big deal. But the other cars have such huge numbers you don't hear about all the stories. I know 2 people with ZL-1 Camaros that have blown the motor in under 5,000 miles. One guy tracked his car and the other it was his daily driver. Both engines were replaced. One still has trouble but its electrical gremlins. The other said his car is much better and actually turned in consistant 2 second faster lap times. Its just like the media with the political candidates. They try and scare you. The 13-14s are just fine.

wow you've had bad luck. They say only 5% of builds have the metal shavings issue. But who knows. Keep us updated.
