I'm considering getting a 2010 Viper ACR in sapphire blue... would this be a stupid thing for an investment, or a good thing considering there will be no more viper after 2010 (cept for import ****)

I see. Buy it to drive it I say. Thats what I do with mine. It would be just too tempting to have one just sitting in the garage and not drove it. :)
Because it's listed as one of the colors on dodge.ca when I go to 'build and price car"

Buy the Viper for a car that you'd enjoy DRIVING...not as an investment...I can't see it as an investment at all. Hope you order that 2010, would look forward to more Sapphire pics! :)

Best investment you can make in yourself. Buy it ,drive it invest in your health and well being. You only live once and you haven't lived till you drive an ACR :)

I wouldn't park it in my garage... of course I'd enjoy it! I'm just talking about an investment in my enjoyability... as in, enjoy it for 10 years... and sell it, and not take a HUGE hit. I'd like in 10 years for the car to be worth the same ratio as the Ford GT is. (the ford GT actually is selling above MSRP now...) If I can only expect it to be worth 1/3rd what I paid for it in 10 years... that's not exactly a good idea in my book. :)

But I'm still going to consider it, even if it's not a worth while investment.....

A longshot for sure. MUCH better ways to invest money (based purely on investment returns of course) than buying a car. Its possible, but I doubt it.

A car is almost never a good investment (unless its a very rare sought after classic).
I think you should buy one for enjoyment purposes only.
Theyre going to reproduce a new one in 2012 anyways.

If you buy a car like this with even a hint of investment in your mind, it's going to poison any fun you have with it. It's really hard to drive the cr@p out of something if you see every mile as lowering its value. Whenever I watch the auctions and see 60's and early 70's muscle cars go by that have never been titled and only have a few miles on them, I feel really sorry for the person that bought them - and I feel really jealous of their kids or other relatives that inherited them and are selling them to buy a house...

I doubt it will resemble the current model, and I'd bet it will be more like some ***** assed Ferrari...I think the 2010 will be a collector and will be the end of an era for the Viper as we know it. I will place one on order this week, if for nothing else other than to hold on to...being one of the last 500 American Vipers to ever be built.

Not to be mean but do you ask this about every car you buy?
I hope it's because you value it.

Buy it for your own pleasure.
You can't take it with you when you go so enjoy it while you are here.

Financial investment? I think not. Buy it and drive it. Investment in pleasure and "yep, I have one and you don't" investment.

you wont be able to even order a 2010 until the spring of next year, and before you know it, they'll be no more. If you want one, buy one now, but expect to lose money when you sell it to pay for your enjoyment

There are many many LESS GTs ever produced than Vipers and ALL things considered (MONEY FACTOR ,MILEAGE ECT )they ARE NOT selling over sticker (A GUY I KNOW CAN NOT GET 125 GRAND for his 06 in this market because he drove it and put on miles.) .If its worth LESS than you paid its a depreciating plain and simple.

Investment worthy?

Thats like having Bernie Madoff as your investment advisor.
No, not an investment at all, it s a car, drive it, smile and be happy you have it, because you will be dead before its considered investment worthy.

Investment NO, hold its value better than a corvette or most cars YES.

This is one of the reasons I bought a Viper also although I don't expect to make a dime. The car would need to be worth millions to even break even. Figure you have to pay approx 100 a month just for insurance and then add depreciation. Even if it does appreciate like the Ford GT it will never cover the insurance let alone gas and maintenance etc..

Now I will say they are excellent investments in your sanity and incredibly fun cars and worth every penny.

It is nice not getting ***** too bad when you go to sell but you will need to keep it for many years for this to happen. If I were to have to sell my Sapphire right now I am guessing that I would probably lose atleast 25 to 33% of what I paid for it on top of the 3000 I have spent to insure it to date. That said EVERYTHING is in the gutter right now, I suspect the value may come up or stay about the same once the economy turns around and people start buying toys again.

P.S Sapphire is by far the BEST color to buy a Viper in. :2tu:

Bad investment.

If you want to put money into a Viper and get more out. Pick up a '92, '96, or GTS-R.

I'm not really concerned about it maintaining or gaining money... i'm thinking more like this:

Buy a 2010 viper for $100,000
compared to:
Buy a 2009 GTR for $100,000

In 5 years, what would be worth more?

Thats all. ;)

If you haven't gotten the message:

CARS, ANY CARS, are not investments!

Buy it, enjoy it, but don't expect it to go up in value... except in the huge value of those incredible Viper memories!!!!

The OP confused everyone thinking you were talking about money.
Usually when someone talks about an investment it is related to $$$. If your talking about investing in life than you need to specify.

It sounds like your looking for both:

So in other words, your looking for the car that you will enjoy the most And have minimal $$$ depreciation.
