Just got a pair of Anti Tow Brackets from Mark at Ipsco

They come in plain Ali, so I added a bit of bling factor and got them Anodised Fast Red over here in the UK


Now That's Better

That's another 50 BHP on looks alone

I love these. I installed them on my Viper 2 years ago and I noticed the difference under hard braking. To me, my Viper feels more stable now when braking hard especially on the track. These definitely help in my case.

I have them on my GTS as well and it does make a difference under very hard braking. Back end is less twitchy. Plain aluminum here, no bling.

They work very well. Less walking under hard braking on the racetrack.

Will these work on a genII that has had the rear frame recall done.......someone told me years ago that they will not fit on ONE side because of the welded ad-on bracket?

I'm told these won't work with the recall. Best to check with Mark or call Tator.

That is correct, if they had the recall done bracket will not fit.

Anyone have the code number for the recall? Tried to fit these today........ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH They do not seem to fit

It seems the curved radius of the diff frame brackets is not allowing the face of the new brackets to lay flush, the curve of the frame bracket is cutting into my new anodising

As the face is not correctly fitting this is resulting in about a 1/4 of an inch gap at the other end of the bracket where to should tighten up to the anti roll link.

Will post pics so you can see what i'm talking about.

OK Found the frame recall number here http://www.viperclub.org/howto/service-bulletins/pdf/RC_99802.pdf Now this applies to 1996 to 1999 cars, My car is a 2000.

Looking at the detailed pictures of the rear diff mounting brackets, mine are clearly different?

Anyone else fitted these to a Gen2 2000 car?

They should fit your car with no problem make sure the two brackets are on the correct side. they are marked with an "R" (Passenger Side) and an "L" (driver). Send me some pictures and I will look and see If some thing stands Out.

Right then, Pics...... you are looking at the anti tow bar and diff frame bracket from the Passenger rear wheel well, (right hand side)

Masked up the bracket to try and avoid scratches while I figured out how to mount them.

Anti tow bar, Note nut removed ready for new longer bolt

It helps to temporarily remove the hand brake cable screw

Frame bracket is cutting into the new bracket

If you look closely you can see the gap between the Anti tow bar and the bracket!

This bracket radius seems to be part of the problem?

I did not want to tighten up the bracket any more causing more damage

Update:
Got underneath the car today and checked the status of the frame brackets and fitted the new brackets.

No1 My car is a 2000 car and has not had the rear frame recall work done (N/A on 2000 models).

I was trying to fit these brackets from the outside of the car via the wheel arches. The result of this is I could not see the opening gap as I released pressure on the main bolt and frame bracket of the rear diff housing arm, I was not expecting the frame bracket to open up so much, so when I offered up the brackets (in my earlier pics) there was a large gap between the back face of the bracket and the face of the Anti tow frame.

When you actually get under the car and release pressure on the bolts all becomes clear.

The good news is I did not have to grind or trim any of the frame brackets and upon tightening the bolts everything gets pulled into the correct position
