A few of us here in Minnesota are doing MOMO steering wheels...here's some pics of Glen's (2002graphiteviper)...This is the "Fighter" model...more pics to come of others! Now, if we could just figure out how to get the Airbag light to go off!

Re: More MOMO Steering Wheels...

Any selection other than round - I thought MOMO had a offset grip model
that looked really ergonomic and different.
If I'm going thru the trouble of replacing my cool looking OEM factory 96 model-
I want the full Star-Wars fighter pilot effect.

You're the freakin MOMO!!!

LTB Motorsports has all the cool MOMO styles, and very good service...If no current VCA vendors offer the MOMO steering wheels, I am going to call these guys and see if they will hook the VCA up with a discount...will post the results of this phone call....

You'll need (estimating prices):
1. The steering wheel (obviously), anywhere from $180 - $300 or so...
2. One hub...$59 or opt for the quick disconnect (very cool)...$109
2. One spacer, if you like...not needed...but brings the wheel a little closer to you...$22
3. A steering wheel puller, most pulley pullers will work as well...$10

Installation should take less than an hour...be sure to disconnect the battery prior to doing anything, and wait a few minutes so for capacitors to drain, don't skip this! Pretty straight forward if you have a service manual, except for the horn hook up, which still isn't too tough...We are doing a couple other installs early this week, I will take install pics...to include air bag removal, steering wheel removal, clock spring removal, hub install, and horn hook-up...

DITTO. I would hate to hear that any of you ended up eating a MOMO in a wreck. A Viper is radical enough without a MOMO and the stock steering wheel is excellent and includes an airbag. Think safety first. For those of you with non-airbag Vipers go for it. No flame intended.

Re: More MOMO Steering Wheels...

Gerald,
at the speeds the viper can go you want all the help you can get in wreck.
I wont wear the stock belts. i always wear the 5 pts .
why? if i get hit or wreck i want to walk away.
and the 5 pts and airbag may let me.
but no 5 pts, no airbag... deathwish to be ultimate poser?
I love looking cool more than anyone on the board... remember me. i painted even the radio
surround... and everything else i could find yellow. but I wont risk being hurt to look cool.
put the airbag back. no check light, and sell the momo on ebay to a kid with a 4 ******
not a 10 cylinder monster.
just my 2 cents.... would never want to hear you ate MOMHO

Re: More MOMO Steering Wheels...

I have my passenger airbag dissabled so that I can take my kids in their child seat in the car safely. I bought a doohickey that plugs into the airbag harness and simulates the airbag so that the light doesn't go on. It's got a Chrysler part number. I think it was about $50 through Parts Rack.

Of the $50, the kit inclues about $5 worth of electronics, and $45 worth of warning stickers to cover every flat surface of the car.

Andy...FINALLY! A solution! Thank you very much!!! Don't suppose you have that part number handy? If not, I can just drop JonB a note...

Re: More MOMO Steering Wheels...

If you are wearing 5/6 point harnesses on the street suitably tightened, then the airbag is superfluous - you won't even come close to it - which is why most folks disable them on the track. Viper Days driver who did not, was able to watch his airbag deploy and deflate all from the safety of his 5 points... It didn't come within 6 inches of him.........

The instructions say it's part K6855297. It's fits several Chrysler models.

One more question - if you don't have either airbag - would you need two of these?? Or does one simulate both bags?

Re: More MOMO Steering Wheels...

You would need one of these per bag.

Well, the electronic part anyway. There are definitely enough stickers for boths sides.

Re: More MOMO Steering Wheels...

You need an airbag much like you would on a 747... You're either going to go straight into the mountain - or not... No in between... I am also guessing not a bunch of us tailgate people - typically you have many car lengths between you and others... Besides, reports show that airbag has enough force to take someones head off 8 yrs or younger...

A friend of mine is a Sheriff - he says that airbags don't negate the injury - 70% of the time it is because of getting thrown out when injuries occur...

So, light 'em up, get a six pack, and don't worry about the airbag exploding in your face...

Besides, we drive with our helmets on all the time anyways right?

I personally never exceed the posted speed limit, and Glen's viper is just flat out slow...no need for airbags!

Can't agree with ya on this one.

Twice I have had people pull out in front of me from parking lots. I had to lock em up because of traffic on both sides of me. First one I walked away with a red mark on my wrist and the other one no injuries, thank you air bags.

In one accident my car was totaled in the other there was substantial damage to the car and not me.

What the heck let's just delete the seat belts too. :)

You're absolutely correct. I've never heard of anyone surviving an auto accident. They are either killed ( regardless of any safety devices including airbags ) or they manage to avoid the accident entirely. Thanks for your intelligent input and wisdom. Please go buy a Momo as soon as you can. BTW, I think you forgot to mention the obvious about your Sherrif's comment. The people got thrown out of their vehicles and got injured or killed because they were too stupid and didn't wear their seatbelts and therefor did not get any potential benefit from the belts or the airbags. However, since I know you are more intelligent than the government agencies, manufacturers, crash test results, etc. I'm going to order a Momo so I can be both cool and safe too! Thank God for this Board...just imagine missing the opportunity to be the coolest ricer with a Momo steering wheel and being safer in the bargin. Where is my gun...I feel like playing Russian Roulett today...it's very cool and really impresses people and makes me very macho. Safety is for wimps...above all else be cool.

Andy,

I just talked to Chuck Tator and he said this is not a Chrysler Part number. He plugged it into the master system and it did not come up and he has never heard of a pert starting with "K".

Do you have another number???

Re: More MOMO Steering Wheels...

Sorry, I think that's actually their part number for the instructions. The last page of the document has a chart for what part number to get for each body type. The instructions are for all body types. I don't know what body type the Viper is. An example would be AM, PL, LH, etc. If you tell me that, I could tell you what part number.

Also, if you send me your fax number, I can send you the instructions.
