Recently brought her in for a coil-over install, and when they shook down the suspension, the damn control arm popped off the ball joint—basically pushed right through it. Ball joint completely failed.

So, that's cool.

As an aside, the plan was to do .5in lower with coil overs. Is there a consensus on ideal height to reduce wheel gap but also not scrape everywhere?

My 04 is probably somewhere between 0.25-0.5" lower than stock if I remember correctly and I haven't really had much for issues. Still have to be careful, but it's also pretty flat where I live.

As far as height goes you’re going to want about 4.5” from the frame to the ground right behind the front wheel well. I was scraping on steep inclines/declines at 4” but not as much at 4.5”.

Rear height will depend on how much rake you want and what generation car. I think gen 1 and 2s can run lower rear heights without scraping since they don’t have a rear diffuser but at 4.5” right in front of the rear wheel well from frame to ground my diffuser was scraping on hard dips in the road so I raised it up to about 5.25”
