Thumbs up on performance
Not enough interior styling
Thumbs down on EXTERIOR styling.

I had to have the R/T when it came out. Then I had to have
the GTS when it came out. JUST FROM THE LOOKS. I have been a Viper owner for 8 years now. We were thinking of a second Viper
for my wife.
I would have continued buying, had the body stayed the same!!!
Just like Coke---Who likes the New-Coke---nobody.
"If it ain't broke don't fix it."

I will NOT own an SRT.

And so much more pleasant of a guy! Maximum density of "Thank you's" and polite "Opinion duly noted" phrases.

Can't argue with success though ... he's on a roll.

I'd like to personally thank Matthew Howell 97 GTS for voting & contributing to this poll. Your voice has been heard & it definitely counts!

Guy's lets not turn this thread into so many that we've seen in the past. And lets not let "some" bait us into frivilous and petty arguments that will do nothing for our cause. We all stand united on this poll & we're going to definitely do something constructive with the results!

With your vote Matthew, the poll stands at 112-26 AGAINST the SRT-10. Thanks for voting buddy.

112-26.......those are the only numbers we should all be concerned with. Let's all keep voting instead of "whining" and send something to DC that matters.

I thought it was pretty well accepted that DC doesn't care what we, the existing Viper owners think -- that they are abandoning us in favor of a new type of customer.

With that said, I think that a much more valuable poll would gather results from DC's target market, such as Corvette owners that have more money to spend than a Corvette costs, or Ferrari owners that don't want to spend quite as much as a Ferrari...?

Maybe you should poll those guys on their boards...Just a thought....

Thumbs up, Like it but if I had to get rid of our 96 GTS I wouldn't. Fortunatly I can do both, hope to hand the keys over to my boys when they won't let me drive any more!

I seem to be in the minority....oh well I also ride a Victory V92C instead of an H-D and pull tractors instead of racing our cars.

King GTS,

Thank you for taking the time to do this. Even if DC does not care, at least my curiosity will be satisfied.

I will vote against the SRT-10 because of its looks. I am sure that performance on the car is awesome but it looks like several other cars already in the market. I like to stand out and that is why I drive the RT/10. I have the '95 model since it is the last model with side pipes. I would never trade it for any other Viper year.

Thanks again,

I'll go against the grain here and give the SRT-10 a thumbs up.

Sure the styling is not as nice, curvaceous, outrageous, and it doesn't look as much like an exotic car as the current models do.

But outside of that, the car seems improved in nearly every way.

I've always wanted the Viper to be a full convertible, have better brakes, more power, etc. And it may be that the way that I get the improvements and the styling too is to keep my car and upgrade it mechanically.

I really love my Viper, but I would trade it for a SRT-10 in a heartbeat.

Very sad to see that the car has been redesigned to look nothing more but a cheap a$$ version of a Vette or Sebring. True, the car might have an incredible performance, but if you don't like the looks, who cares about performance.

Its like the old saying goes, its not the beauty from the outside, it's the inside that counts..Yeah right..was that You Mark that said that???

OK, I believe sufficient data has been compiled to facilitate a valid linear extrapolation. It's a clear and decisive thumbs down according to current Viper (mostly GTS) owners.

So the question is, what's the point? Our voices will be heard? By whom? How will this poll affect the car's styling? What should our expectations be?

..... and the answers are?

First I'd like to thank several people for contributing to the poll. rwc4196, Mako, Snakester, STOUT 1, Barry Holsinger, Craig 201 MPH, XLR8, & Viper Fever!

Thanks guys! I think you'll find out how important each & every one of your voices was in the end!

The poll stands at 120-29 AGAINST the SRT-10.

Guys. Some have said that "the powers that be" definitely monitor this Board! Some have even said that SPECIFIC CHANGES were made to the SRT-10 due to DIRECT feedback from this BOARD! Is that true? I don't know, I'm just a regualr ol' guy just like all of you. I don't know any big wigs at DC or any Editors of magazines or anything like that. I don't go to dinner with the guys from PVO or to the track with people in "the know". I get my magazines when my local magazine store gets them. But instead of a handfull of people whining, I thought, let's see how EVERBODY feels! EVERYBODY! Let's send our results to DC & all the people that matter, and be done with the issue once & for all! No since in "whining" or complaining after that because we actually did something consrtructive that mattered! It was initially brought to my attention by Steve Ferguson that whining wasn't helping our cause, and that really made sense to me, hence the Poll. How long will the Poll be allowed to run? I don't know. But the important thing is that we're all being given the opportunity to voice our opinions. EVERYONE, not just GTS owners, has the opportunity to contribute & have their voice heard. THERE IS NO GAG ORDER ON THE VCA regarding the SRT! That's been made clear because this Poll has been allowed to stand! WE ALL HAVE TONY (VIPERMAD) RICKARD TO THANK FOR THAT! The Houston Club is trying to figure out something special we can do for him at VOI!

Keep voting guys/gals/RT-10/GTS/ and enthusiasts alike! The Viper is "OUR" sports car NOT "THEIRS"! WE will make a difference!

As a Viper enthusiast I have to vote thumbs down on the styling of the SRT-10.......There was no love or awe when I saw it at Jacob Javits Auto show....What made me realize how I felt was the fact that with the SRT-10 sitting right next to the SRT Ram, I couldnt take my eyes off the RAM....I really think if I had the money for BOTH I would get the RAM and a used gen II instead......The Ram has more "presence", exoticness than the SRT....Presence was something the gen I/II's had in spades...

Thumbs down

p.s. I would take it over a Vette, and at the end of the day that may be all DC is concerned about....

Ya know, I was not going to vote, but what the heck. However since I do not qualify to buy the car and have not seen/driven the car in person my vote is "suspect".

1.) I love the performance specs / comfort etc.

2. I like the car looks. It is NOT ugly by any stretch of the imagination like others claim to believe but in all honesty it appears to have lost the Viper spirit in looks only. In fact Chris M. has posted a pic of his black GTS from the side and I just sit there and think "WOW, I LOVE THAT BLACK GTS!!! WHAT AN AWSOME CAR!" Hey Chris, wanna trade?
smile.gif

I guess that makes it a thumbs down.

I saw it personally at the Autoshow in Chicago took many digital pictures of the car to examine/review later and did. Realized that I wasted way too much time on the SRT-10 and missed out on the New Ford GT-40.

Vote: Against.

Stats: I don't own a Viper yet.
Plan: Purchase a 2002 GTS around 2004-5 and plan to look into a 97 Paint scheme or just outright buy a '97 GTS Blue/White.

Looks like a half dozen other cars. This is not the aggressive styling that made me buy a Viper. Makes me happier with my 97 GTS after I add some performance features. As we can see from the poll, there will be a new breed buying this car. Thumbs down from the Lone Star State.

SHleby3, that collection of blue cars in front of your garage tells the story...With that collection, adding the SRT-10 is not a priority...

I have only seen the SRT Ram in magazines, but I totally agree that if I "found" ~75K (give or take a little) I would have to purchase the Ram over the SRT-10. That is of course assuming a Dodge purchase...

Love the SRT10!

To All you who do not like the styling, where were you when Team Viper asked what you wanted in the next generation?

To have any validity a few pool voting requirements are missing.

Minimum requirements to Vote:

1. Must be a VCA Member (active)

2. Must have or will attend one of the following
a. How many of you went to VOI6?
b. How many of you went to VOI5?
c. How many of you are going to VOI7?

3. Have the dollars available to buy a $80,000. car

4. Have owned or presently own a RT10. (if you do not like ******* cars your vote will not count in a ******* poll)

Filter you poll with the above and recalculate the results!

(also no name no vote)
If you Viper enthusiasm is limited to the key board you vote is worthless! my opinion!
