Like having a Picasso in bankvault for 20 years and selling it for 2 bucks more.
I have better ideas what to do with mine. A burnout! or two.

Well, if he waits just another 20 years, could be in that sweet spot

That's a cool find. I imagine even at 70k its a fair deal. Never really understand why people have an issue when people dont drive a car. Its your money do what you want. If you like to look at it like a painting or sculpture so be it. If you want to smash it with a sledgehammer that's your right too.

The car is legit and I believe it is owned by a long-time VxA member - and the "WHITE hood with a blue stripe" is the same car zoomed in on the hood (maybe that comment was a play on the blue/black dress internet controversy???). Three owners is not at all "weird."

There are probably 50+ of the '96 GTS cars out there with low miles (<500) considering the number of true collectors that initially purchased these. It's not often that one comes up for sale (maybe 3-4/year) but they do generate a lot of interest in the collector community. $70K is definitely top dollar but these low mileage '96 GTS are only going up in value from here forward. Anyone wanting a low mileage original GTS and "waiting" for a drop isn't going to own one of these anytime soon and most likely never will. $60K is probably more realistic from a "buyers" perspective and my guess is that it sells for low-mid '$60's if it sells at all (i.e the seller really wants to move it). I hope he gets $70K. That would suggest the Gen II's are continuing to become more desirable to collectors.

3 owners? Thats weird. And wonder about the car that is in his pictures that shows WHITE hood with a blue stripe.

The problem with that car is, you can no longer drive it. the value in that car is that it has no miles. as soon as the car is driven it just becomes another low mile Viper. at that time any value in being a ultra low miles car is gone. this Viper has now earned the place as a no mile show car. Garage art.

Why is it "one of a kind" when we always see them for sale as "one of a kind" It's not one of a kind so please stop. Now a viper painted Butterscotch with magneta stripes would be "one of a kind"

I wouldn't buy it. 45 miles and it is a 3 owner car? I'd want one that is still on MSO so that I would have a warranty.;)

While I can appreciate wanting to keep a car preserved, the amount of enjoyment that has been missed over the last 18 years that car has been in existence would not equal whatever increased value that car poseses over a similar car that has been enjoyed.

If I were to buy this car, I would not want to drive it and would be fearful of something happening to it. No thanks.

Looks like the car moves on to the next steward.

Was blue/white only offered on 96s? Would you guys say this is the most collectible GTS? What about a 99 last year of the good motor or 02 final edition or ACR?

Of the Generation I Vipers, the only Blue/White Model Year (MY) is 1996. Otherwise, there is more than one year with the Blue/White combo in other Generations. Keep in mind, I was answering IDM's question concerning 96 Blue/White Vipers. I mean hell, 97 had over 1000 Blue/White Vipers, however, that's a Gen II

Technically the 96 B & W is a a Gen 1.5 or you could say it is a GEN II. The chassis was changed a tad bit
in 96. If you look closely at a chassis of a 95 & 96 they are different.....
