I totally endorse this.

The Newfoundland Targa is outstanding and a great everyman event. Just need a bit of race-driving cert (I forget, like 2 days), and you can bring your own car (doesn't even need a roll cage), or rent one there. The roads are pretty good now nowadays, since alot of the offshore oil money went into infrastructure like paving roads.

The race fee is like around $2500-$3000 for each person of the 2 man team, but you get alot included with that.

Plus, being in the same race (albeit in a different class of race) as Ralph Gilles is pretty fun.

As a postscript, the former political leader of Newfoundland, Danny Williams, is a big Viper fan, and has his own Viper that you see him around town in sometimes.

Brilliant marketing on Dodge's part, hope they come back a winner, good luck guys!

Way , way cool and good to see Ralph going back to run the Targa Newfoundland. It was great when he ran the Charger and if I remember correctly this will be his third attempt, so he has some knowledge of the roads/events, which past winners say is very beneficial in Newfoundland.

Now let's all name another automotive executive doing cool stuff like this -------------------hmmm, aren't any are there. Positive proof we have a real car guy running SRT, Motorsports and Chrysler Design! Kudos for Ralph , as it just enhances the image of SRT and enthusiasts at Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, Ram !

Going to try and make it over to spectate. Not sure if Tom is driving his Viper this year. But would be something to see a couple Vipers in the rally. Here's a link to a past thread with some photos. http://forums.viperclub.org/threads...-2005-Viper!?p=2899872&viewfull=1#post2899872

I will be back racing my GT3RS and not the viper, however im really looking forward to seeing Ralph again and his ACR! I have been after him to bring a ACR or ACRX since 2009!

its going to be fun!

Entry fee:
$3000.00 for touring class. no roll cage needed.
$5000.00 for targa class. full cage required.

You are right about our recent premier. his first viper was a red 1993, it sold and then bought the white with blue stripe 1996 RT/10.
He still has the 1996 and also has a white with blue stripe 2006 SRT10 to match. He loves cars. Also has two Bentleys, Jag, Maserati and a Prowler.

His son is equally a car guy and is racing a 07 Subaru STI in the event. His daily Driver is a Hennessey Venom 650 coupe! It is for sale if anybody wishes to have it! You can arrive and drive it in the targa this sept 10th! ;)

Hi jman2 -

Ralph was born in NY, but lived in Montreal from age 1 to 18. So he considers himself both American and Canadian!

Check out the post I just made in the Driven forum. The yellow Enzo you see in the above picture is now submerged in the water. Lost it around a corner and went in the drink.

Unfortunately, thanks to hurricane Maria, David didn't make it to St. John's for the Targa finish line.... all flights were cancelled today!! Have another son over there, maybe he made it!?? If he got some pictures, I will post them. On another note, sad to hear about the Enzo in the lake... but just watched a video with an interview with the owner and he seems to have a great attitude about it!.

Maybe this explains why Ralph is such a Nice guy. He's part Canadian. It all makes sense now.

Thanks Doris
