Rotary/Revolution Lift Installation cost $$$

After much contemplation, my decision for a 4 post (storage) lift comes down to either a US made Rotary SM14S or their imported (China) Revolution RFP9. The cost difference for these 2 are about 25% higher for the Rotary which is worth it to me, but the concern I got is the requirement of a 220V setup, which just added more cost and complexity to the project. That said the most surprising thing to me was that. The local distributor for these products is quoting me $1,100 for delivery and basic installation. To those who had experience with these lifts. Can you comment on the cost of the installation?

BTW I did also consider Backyard Buddy, but their leadtime and lack of support in New England is a deal breaker for me.

Don't worry about BYB's lead time from order to delivery. I ordered one form them and they told me it would be six weeks (I think) and the called me like a week later saying that they had a lift for me they could set up however I could not take delivery of that lift due to the weather conditions. I needed to get it set up in the spring.

the newer roatry has a china pump- i know cause i just has to buy a new one, 5 years old... my other rotarys are 15 years old with no problems.

I should clarify that the $1100 is $200 freight + $200 delivery + $700 install. BTW Backyard Buddy quoted me $1050 for their delivery/freight/install (by 3rd party). Anyhow, Still seem high to me but I do want to make sure it is done right so I guess I will have to pay the price.

steve getting the units to the house is the biggest problem. Two guys can do the install 3 or 4 makes the heavy lifiting a little easier. I have two form Ctech and installed my self and have moved the lifts 3 times to diffrent locaions no problem.

I have a BendPak HD9. Shipping was free, and I was fortunate to have it delivered to a friend's shop where they have a rollback and forklift.

Once home, some car club friends came over and the heavy stuff was done in a couple hours. We used an engine hoise to help. Then, the rest I did myself. I know how it works and could repair or adjust it myself now too. I was quoted $1200 to install.

You can order a BendPak to run on 120, but it's a bit slower if you are concerned about having a line run.

I This is not a matter of mechanical capability as I have done my fair share of hot rodding and engine building in my life. This is a matter of handling tons of steel by myself. Sorry, when it comes to heavy equipment installation, I have learn my lesson and it is just not worth it to me. Although the engine hoise idea is not a bad way to go about it.

I installed my 4Post myself with help from friends. I also moved it 2 times the same way.

I am getting a rotary 2 post lift. Installation is $400 here in TX. The posts on the 2 posts are much heavier than the 4post, which makes it harder to DIY.

I installed both of my lifts...2 and 4 post. You need at least two people and if you are bolting it to a garage floor-you need to rent a drill to go into the cement and basic hand tools. About a 4-5 hour job the first time for both...really not that tough. Brian

Do you have a way to use a chain fall? I planned ahead and put a 4x4 in my ceiling above where the lift was going with a 1/2" eye bolt through it. Made lifting it a breeze. Once up you can walk it (side to side) anywhere you want. You'll need to rent ($28)a good hammer drill and buy a long 3/4" bit ($25) for the mounting bolts in the floor. Lay it out, move it in place and drill your holes through the bottom flange. They had one in their local distributor's warehouse so freight was $0. Used my trailer to get it home but you could borrow one or rent a roll back for $75 to bring it in. Once home 2 of us set it up in 2 hours.

220 lifts are much faster. May be worth running the line depending how close a 220 source is. Keep us posted.

I like their product, I just wish they have a better service mind set. Every time i call them is a different price and lead time and they can never tell me exactly who they will contracting to handle the install.

I just got a Backyard Buddy- so far, it seems good.

They told me 6 weeks to build- it did take just about 6 weeks. They contacted the installer and got his agreement, and then had me call him to set up delivery and installation. I had it delivered to him, he then delivered it to me and set it up ($700).

And here is even more stuff to keep you up at night....if the unit is made in American, where did the steel come from?. Many products that are "made in the USA" have many parts or sections imported in.

My Direct Lift 9K lb extra tall and extra wide was one of the heaviest of all lifts I researched about buying....I guess Chinese steel is heavy

OK, It has been a long time since I started this thread, but now that I finally got a lift set up at home, I feel it is necessary to provide an update here. Anyhow, to make a long story short, I decided not to go with Rotary, because the regional sale guy was not very helpful nor motivated to do business. So, I sat on this over the Spring, had the garage door done over the Summer and by chance a used BYB came up for sale here locally so i jumped on it and had it deliver to my house. With a couple heavy duty jacks and a few good voluntees, we were able to assemble and calibrate the lift in about 5 hours. This is a very strong and high quality unit and I am glad with the end result.
