My truck is leaking water when I wash it and/or drive it in the rain. I've adjusted the lock and the 2 rubber stoppers on each side, but to no avail. I then put some 3/16 o-ring material under the gasket to try and raise it a little bit. That helped somewhat, but i'm still getting water in there. There are shims under the deck-lid mounts, but i'm afraid if I take those out to lower the lid for better contact with the seal, it will throw the body alignment in the back way off.

Anyone got any ideas??? (Other than not driving in the rain... I live in Oregon) :)

Thanks,
Kevin

this might sound dumb as hell but are you 100% sure its not dripping in when you open it?? only reason I ask is because I thought mine was leaking too but look when you open it water will drip from the trunk lid RIGHT into the trunk. its a dumb design but I guess the trunk was not their # 1 priority on the snake.

It does leak in some when I open the truck, but there are still puddles in there coming from somewhere. I'm going to try and add the o-ring material around the entire seal tonight and see what that does.

It seems like there is some splatter on the sides also like it's leaking from somewhere else.

Every one of my damn Dodge's have had leaky trunks... My challenger, charger, satellite all were the same way... I got bad luck...

I took a long look at it tonight at it seems like i'm getting some water from the wheel wells. I'm going to try a new seal, but im afraid I might have something more extensive. Just don't know who I can take it to to look at closer...

Kevin,
I have a lift, we could put a light inside the trunk raise it up and see if there are any obvious signs of leakage.

I don't have any problems with my 01 and drive in the rain a lot. call me 360-903-9571, I live in Vancouver (I am the new guy in the Oregon club)

Thanks for the offer Rick. I think I may have it now. I had a friend help me yesterday align the trunk lid so the seams were perfect, then we were looking in there and it appears I lost some of the sealer gasket material they used at the factory to seal the rear quarter panel to the trunk insert. I put some sealer in it last night and was going to try and test it at lunchtime today.

Kind of funny... We took a turkey baster and squirted right in the seam and it just started pouring into the trunk. If i'm lucky, problem solved :2tu:

How could you NOT think of a turkey baster at this time of the year? Shame on you! :D LOL

Take out the spare tire, Find a small friend to put in the truck with a flashlight, close the trunk, start hosing it down & have your friend find the leak. I'm not kidding. Many years ago I was working at a dealership and was in charge of repairing rattles, squeaks, & water leaks. This is how we found the leaks !
