Renting Willow Springs for the day, who wants to go???

I'm trying to get ahold of Gary, but no success yet. I wouldn't miss another opportunity to humiliate SoCal....Unfortunately, now that I'm Z06-less, I'll have to use the big guns. Steve, if you haven't brought the Z06 to the track yet, I highly recommend it. I would be curious to hear your...

For all those that said the new Viper looks like a Camaro.....

Am I the only one who can't see the pix in the original post???

    1st time @ drags; results / input

I agree with the above comments that you should be pleased with your RT's and 60' times. Also, Chris is right, even with the 3.07 gear, you're going to need fourth. So, suck it up and make the shift as quickly and smoothly as possible. With the short times you have there, low 12's are...

    Rear-end swap (GTS not wife)

My 60' times on street tires dropped from 2.00 sec territory down to 1.90 sec at the drag strip. I also knocked a tenth off my 0-60 times. So, there is a difference in straight-line performance. I have not road raced the car since the gear swap, but I'm a bad enough road racer that I'm not...

    Rear-end swap (GTS not wife)

Neil, Out of curiosity, how is the restriction accomplished? Is it reversible? If so, maybe that's what Old Rascal needs, more so than a 3.55 rear end! Just my opinion. 387 bhp is nearly 100 hp off what the U.S. cars produce, depending on year.

    JUST GOT MY G-TECH/PRO.....

Agree, ditto Treynor's comment. Best 0-60 so far is 3.6 sec, with passenger and 1/2 tank of gas.

How do the vipers compare in HP from the first year to present?

Hey, Matt, good to see you over here. I'll keep it quiet over at the CF that you were saying good things about Vipers... ;) I would add to the above that the Gen I cars (400 bhp claimed) run the 1/4 in mid-to-upper-12's (stock). The Gen II cars run in the lower 12's. As Bob indicated above...

    Hennessey Motorsports Poll Part 2

I am interested in seeing the results of such a poll, as I may be looking to do more serious modifications to my Viper over the next year. The results of such a poll would be valuable in determining where to go.

    Viper vs. Corvette drag races!

BTW, Ben, I also posted a response to the ZR-1 guy who had a weed up his a$$ about the Viper guys being invited to join in. I basically said it's fine to hold an elitist event, but don't complain if you can't get enough of your own to sign up to make it happen, which is why the Viper guys were...

    Viper vs. Corvette drag races!

Ben, There's a guy named Bob down in OC who has a white C5 convertible with ported heads, cam, headers, exhaust, lower final drive ratio, nitrous, and probably some other goodies. I was always a tenth or so faster than him, until he decided to squeeze right off the line, at which point he laid...

    Viper vs. Corvette drag races!

Ok, I officially signed up on the CF. I hope there are some fast Vettes there. There's only one C5 I know of who can take me! P.S., Kid: "SloCal" -- I like it

Re: Uh, it\'s my cruise control indicator... (long, but fun) Norman, I didn't see anywhere where Chris said he was selling his 2000....All he said was he's looking for a blue/silver '01! Cool story, Chris.

    KILL SECTION

Well, I know it isn't going to happen, because the issue has been raised at least twice previously and shot down. However, for the record, I am with Freddie and Gerald on this. A kill section would certainly liven things up around here, and if people don't want to partake, they can just not go...

Pick your races better next time ! Save us all the embarrassment !!

Hmmmm, your first post on the board, and it happens to be about a ZR-1 beating a Viper at Bowling Green....Hmmmmm....Sort of troll-like behavior, no??? Anyway, post pix of your Viper when you get a chance. That being said, it does sound as if the Viper guys came in with the wrong attitude and...

Great SoCal Club turn-out at Palmdale yesterday!

Scott, It was good to meet you! Your 13.5 would've corrected to something like a 12.9-13.0, which is pretty close to the numbers that stock Gen I RT/10's run (upper 12's). Not bad for your first time out! Beach, Geeez, don't pump SoCal up like that! He's hard enough to deal with as it is...

    HEAVY DUTY Half-Shafts

Right now Unitrax makes two types of half shaft, the standard ones rated up to about 700 hp, the heavy duty ones for higher power applications. Personally, I snapped a U-joint on the BTR Viper half shafts while running on street tires, so I have switched to Unitrax. Also, I saw a prototype set...

Has Dodge considered a HP boost for 2002?

Jim, As far as lap times in your Z06 vs. GTS, I'd be interested to hear your opinion. I don't have lap times on the same track to compare, since I ran my GTS at Buttonwillow and my Z06 at Willow Springs, but qualitatively, I feel the two cars handle about the same, and the GTS has a huge...

Has Dodge considered a HP boost for 2002?

Jim, Yeah, I agree I'll be looking for the new GTS as well. That's the long-term plan; flip the '03 RT for the '04 or '05 GTS.... I still feel like if I have to do brake upgrades on the Z06, then I might as well save my money and do them on the GTS. I was running Motul 600 at Willow Springs...
