Someone needs to find out what the Michelin Pilot Sport failures were during open road race events that lead to the C1 carcass variation. John B might know this one.
Nadine, on the side of your tire, can you find a "C1..." stamped anywhere in a fairly crude fashion?
Re: Help! how strong is the output shaft? has anyone broken one?
Wow, with that kind of HP, I wonder if you should employ clutchless transmission "technology."
Those guys MUST back off on the clutch so that it actually slips a little when the shift is done, otherwise, major breakage.
So for...
I checked with my friend who builds world class rally cars and he was so excited about discussing the superior attributes of the Quaiffe, that he was not behaving "normally!"
Further, he knew about the TrueTrac and he said that while it is a similar design, it does NOT offer all the...
Regarding HP:
Since the best you can do is max area under the HP curve per gear, that means you must basically center the peak HP in each gear to really get the bang for you HP buck.
What this generally means is you have to wind the engine more than you might ordinarily - depending on how you...
Some thoughts:
1) Wait, the prices will be lower next year.
2) Get more girls with Corvette.
3) Best to get girls is a HD motorcycle PERIOD!
4) In PA, Viper will not go in snow, however, I met a guy who skiied at Seven Springs from Bethesda MD and owned ONLY a 94 RT10. He NEVER put the rear...
The "fuse" is supposed to be the drive shaft.
Look at heavy trucks and equipment.
As far as rather breaking a diff or trans over a 1/2 shaft doesn't make sense to me.
The "best" way is to do it NA in my book. You eliminate a lot of "stuff" under the hood. However, not everyone is capable of pulling those numbers off with nice streetability. Let's face it, if it were simple, then people wouldn't waste their time with "adders!"
Yes, I hate it when they say...
Do a search on TrueTrac and Quaiffe and you will get an education.
It appears the TT and Q are pretty much the same. Both are a gear type and have no frictional components.
This is a BIG ISSUE with the 4WD crowd!
Sounds great on paper, but I drove a NA 600 rwhp Viper in SoFla and it was the most frustrating thing I ever did.
And I was out around Lion Country Safari which is basically the Outback of FL.
Simply no where to enjoy the power.
Too much traffic, too many cops.
VERY frustrating and...
Someone needs to manufacture a REMOTELY adjustable rear bar.
Rally guys (and M3 guys I believe too) are able to adjust their rear bars while driving.
This is done by rotating the "flat blades" which are the "arms" of the sway bar.
Re: Here\'s how we eliminate idle hang when needed....
I have one clue to add, my 96 GTS (Skiles Bad Viper) hangs very noticeably around 9000' altitude. Back at 5-6000' it doesn't do it.
Go figure.
Re: Why Vipers don\'t handle well?
Lateral G's are misleading.
I borrowed an 84 Corvette from a friend (it was a beater) which had the "go-kart" Z51 suspension.
Taking it easy, I was doing power slides with this car.
It was so easy to control.
That kind of cavalier behavior with a Viper and...
From what I have heard Jet Hot is THE company to coat headers.
Many people make the mistake of buying coated headers from various manufacturers. (My TTS long tubes started blistering, flaking, and rusting just over 1/2 year old.)
No one has the warranty Jet Hot has.
There's a good reason for...
From what I understand, an x-pipe should be placed upstream of the tail pipe resonators. The turbulent back pressure from the resonators will force more mixing.
Further, there are a lot of theories out there where to place them for max HP gain.
It is not a simple matter.
I was wondering if any car magazine or owner has obtained some MPH's that exceed the big ones that the GTS has had published in the past?
One would hope with the extra HP, that there would be a corresponding MPH increase.
Unfortunately, I have seen way too many discussions of lower MPH instead.
