Bashing Ralph and Beth is definitely not warranted and pretty shocking to me. If it wasn't for Ralph THERE WOULD BE NO VIPER. PERIOD. Yes, there's no question there have been some missteps in marketing, delays, and lack of communication, but remember that these guys are operating with a very small team and a tiny budget. Rather than arguing amongst our selves and bashing and discrediting SRT, let's try to give them constructive criticism, support, and feedback. Yes I know many people have already and have had some frustrating experiences, but we must keep patient and calm. Remember that more than just viper people and viper club members look at these forums. If we don't give the viper our support, who will? And if we publicly bash them time and time again, how do you think others will perceive not only the viper community, but SRT, and the viper? We already have some serious image problems after the whole VCA melt down. Let's see how 2014 plays out. If people want to see future viper products, the support from current viper owners has to be there. No viper fans, no viper. Just my $.02

My support for Ralph and SRT was purchasing the car-giving dozens of positive write ups during my first 4 months and 8000 adventurous, exhilarating, and trouble free miles!! I am planning on getting a 2nd-HOW MUCH MORE SUPPORT CAN I SHOW!!
I NEED and WANT the car to SURVIVE and THRIVE!! I am getting FRUSTRATED for Ralph and SRT because they have done such an EXCEPTIONAL job in bringing the Viper "back to life"-only to let a "SELECT FEW" almost SINGLEHANDEDLY "butcher" the
"coming out party" for this INCREDIBLE vehicle!! If the car was SELLING more-than the CONCERN being shown would SUBSIDE!! Everyone who posts on this forum that owns a Gen 5 seems to be EXTREMELY HAPPY- Mr. Bush aside. It takes "one bad
ingredient" to ruin the "cake"-and for the majority of the posters on this forum -who by the way are EXTREMELY SMART AND INTUITIVE- there seems to be that "feeling" of "negative uncertainty"!!! It's not the CAR- it's just the perception that is
troubling!! BTW-small teams should be SUPERBLY EFFICIENT-not extremely incompetent!! All the money in the world can't make up for a lack of common sense- put your best foot forward 24/7 and there would be BETTER results-in SALES and
PERCEPTION- which-guess what-wait for it.........would lead to MORE FUTURE VIPERS AND THE CONTINUATION OF THIS AMAZING AUTOMOBILE!!!!!!!!

Well said! And of course I wasn't referring to you when I was talking about all the negativity. You bring up a good point that the vast majority of people who have actually driven the gen v love it. Lot of haters site unseen, etc.

I dont understand the folks that have a problem with those of us that want to hold the candle to SRT/Ralph/Beth etc. I dont remember reading anything overtly disrespectful. Do we just stick our heads in the sand and sit back and watch them destroy the Viper marque with obvious incompetance without calling a spade a spade? Who do we blame then that wont offend certain individuals? Motortrend, Lieberman, Pobst? Obviously they are not to blame. SRT is.

BTW I see moreso the critique of SRT's business/marketing acumen than the Viper itself. But some keep on trying to link that with bashing the Viper itself even though most of us are not. Also a fan site doesnt mean that you cant express your displeasure with obvious blundering from a car/game/tool etc mfg. If some of you cant see that its passion for the car thats driving most of the extremely warranted negativity towards SRT then some of you are being myopic imho.

It buffles me that such a trademark-car-making company didn't expect the fans reaction and expectations for this 'contest' before making that FB ad.
The near future is looking bleek.

With attitudes like that, why should any of us vendors even want to advertise here?

GM embraces the aftermarket support, sometimes using ideas developed by the aftermarket and incorporating them into their future products. GM made available the coding, cylinder heads, engine blocks, even crate engines - supplied to top GM tuner companies BEFORE the C7 Corvette became available. The end result is that the C7 has been out for 2 weeks now, and they have a plethora of parts (ported heads, cams, headers, cold air intakes, ECM tuning) already! This is what the performance enthusiasts want - the option to do as they please.

Some may call stock Vipers "bad ass". Many of us call stock Vipers.... slow. Why limit yourself, for no reason?

This! The fact that you can go out and buy a new C7 and then drop it off at any number of tuners across the country and have it tweaked and tuned to your likening is awesome.

Stock *****, always does, why...because its not made 100% custom to your likening. I wish I could get a heads/cam package forum gen4 and make 700rwhp-725rwhp all motor!

This is definitely a performance upgrade. Now the guys in Z07s and flash-tuned Mustangs that are passing you will need to slow down to check out that insane blue color. Turn the volume up on the sound system to slow them down even further.

I don't really have a dog in this fight, since I'm not even a Viper owner and am shopping for a Gen IV not a V because of dat mid 20's career ceiling, but I've been involved in a bunch of very active online car communities for years, and I've wondered more than once in the last few months I could use my Hero 3's and DJI Phantom/gimbal, and my wife in a chase car to do a better job of guerilla marketing this car than SRT. Maybe I'll email them and see if they want to loan an unknown quantity $100,000 worth of product. lol.

Alright I will admit it.....I actually entered the contest. I know I will probably get flack for that in view of the way this thread has gone. Although I fully agree with the many comments on just what has gone wrong. I have an 08 Coupe and waiting for the GenV ACR to be released and hopefully SRT will step its game up and it will be everything we expect. I mention that because if I win this contest I would give up the offered prize for just having one of the first ACR's. Think that would be a better 1st place offer. Oh, the name I submitted for the color (just in case you wanted to know)..................BlueHiss Blue.

Whoever is the head of SRT marketing needs to be **** canned immediately. We do not need some idiotic second grade "name that color" contest. We need a real Viper that can compete! *** SRT and Ralph?

I've agreed to stop banging on about what many people here agree with. All I'll say is if SRT wanted to do everything in their power to make the Viper fail and be discontinued, they are doing it now. It's like they climbed Mt. Everest and stopped 300ft from the Summit for absolutely no reason. Great weather, plenty of oxygen left. All that effort why not finish what you started. So close, yet so far.

I have to CLARIFY my FIRST post. What I would hope to get is the chance to be one of the first to BUY an GenV ACR since there will be a long waiting line and time as well in view of what happened with the '13s. Not win the ACR.

Well as others have stated, the car is incredible so why give one that is not 100% to magazine journalists? And I hate to say it, but the color contest does not breathe excitement into a product that needs a shot in the arm. I think the majority of people have felt let down from the beginning when the new Gen V was benchmarked against the older ZR1 and lost. It took the addition of the aero to make it a smidgeon faster. And granted this was against the top level Corvette, the Gen V still lost. And then you take the Magazine critiques and negative press and people suddenly had the wind knocked out of their sail. I really think that people were expecting a knock your socks off and in your face write up especially with all of the pinned up hype and excitement that had been building. In all honesty I think people kind of feel let down. And just when they think that something big is coming, they get to hop in line and try to name the new color. If anything, SRT should have let owners name the color. At least give them something to feel special.

I don't see what the big deal is. Props to SRT for offering something like this. Not every day fans get to suggest names to a color of a car and win a sweet prize.

BTW my entry is totally going to win.

I think we all are just craving something big to happen from SRT.

The marketing should be as brutal as the car, but not in a bad way.

Same here. I think the year I bought my ACR they sold 179. I'm guessing the demand will be more than their supply if they do produce another ACR.

Fans should be allowed to suggest improvements to the car, not naming colors of the car that does not generate enough interest to sustain sales.

Who said fans can't suggest improvements? Do you think for one second SRT doesn't see the cluster-**** of rage in threads like these? Suggest away, but the tone here has wore thin long ago. Now its the same complaints over and over, but the tones is getting worse.

Well it's the same marketing bumbling lamefest over and over from SRT so why do you think the complaints will be any less consistent?

If the complaints are the same over and over, the tone should get worse (since nobody is listening obviously)

As someone who bought a Gen V, the SRT blunders in marketing are particularly painful. It means that I'll be eating thousands more in depreciation because SRT can't get its **** together.

It hurts SRT more, because I may have considered upgrading to a GTS in a year or two, but not if I have to eat an extra $10k in depreciation.

Is it because of what the 14 SRT includes that your car doesn't or why?

I can't wait to see what the MSRP will be for the ACR if they come out with one. I'm thinking 170+k? LOL!!! (before dealers add their "market adjustment")

Please you will eat way more than 10,000.00 in depreciation if you attempt to sell a used Gen.5.Be real, their are new G5s sitting all over the county that are 10 to 15
thousand off MSRP.As for the ACRs,if they make the mistake of over pricing the ACRs and the greedy dealers act the way they did with the Gen.5,they to will be sitting collecting dust.

I always broke even or even made money(97 B/W GTS) on all the Vipers I have owned, those days are over due to SRTs mistakes and the very greedy dealers trying to get free money...

The people making these decisions at SRT need to move on and get new people in their that can save the Viper....

I am well aware how much I will eat in depreciation. The point is, which you obviously missed, I don't want to eat more than I have to due to SRT sales.

Not that difficult.
