In the latest edition of Muscle and Fitness magazine, there is a (1/2) page story on the '08 viper. in that story, it says that MSRP is $85,000.

this is the first price figure i have seen. what do you all think? correct, low, high?

BTW - the title of this thread should read - "Price of '08 Vipers." (unable to change)

Re: Price of '06 vipers

Big,
This may just be just me nit-picking, but in the title you say "'06 Viper".

you are correct sir! at the time of the writing, i was suffering from a condition known at my house as "FF&LOADP".

(Fat Fingers & Lack Of A Dr Pepper). :D

thanks for finding my email and changing it chris! ;)

Would be impressed if the '08 went for $85,000, but I'd think that's base, and is also roughly 10K less than what dealers will ask...we shall see, right? With so many options, no one is going to have a 'base' Viper at all...so the price will be upwards of $95,000 will bet. ~juli~

When I was at the Luke Air Show In AZ a few months ago, I asked the driver of the 08 if he new what they would be selling for. He didn't know for sure, but was told that the msrp would be at or a little more than the 06. On a prior thread another guy who was at the air show said he saw on the Visor of the 08, msrp 84,995. If this proves true the dealers will certainly jack up the price in lieu of new 06s still around.

I remember that also, Tranzow, that someone actually SAW an MSRP sticker inside one of the '08's that were at the Viper vs. Viper event, and it said $86,000....I'm EXtremely leery of that being the dealers' price...look what they did to the Z06, $20,000 OVER sticker, and they sold. Will be VERY impressed if they keep the price W/color/stripe/wheel options around $90,000. We shall soon see I guess......~juli~

I'm not sure that many z's sold @ $20k over. I bought for MSRP and sold a few months later. There are dealers on this site who will sell an '08 @ MSRP. Stick w/ a VCA supporting dealer and I'm confident you'll be fine (Bill P., John G. and the other good guys)..

adamlotus: That's our bet also...would love to hear from anyone who actually got a price quote from a dealer--Bill Pemberton at Woodhouse, what do you think or know about the prices, anything yet? I know it's not divulged to dealers from DCX til late....but very curious. THX! ~juli~

I would have to say that keeping the msrp of the 08 aound 85 K would be the smartest thing they could do. If you ask me the minor upgrades on the car doesn't warrant a huge price increase on the base, I like the option list so from there i'm sure DC can pick up a few more bucks from that. Like I said I would bet that DC WILL keep the price @ 85K base and optioned up 95k. Still price is alittle higher than the Z06 but not by much, if DC prices this car above 100k that would never compete with the current Z06 owners/shoppers. just my .02

I will take that bet (and adamlotus) and raise you $10. :D I suspect that you will be able to pick up the new Viper at sticker or very close to it. DCX is not happy with those that add a ridiculous premium. And I don't see prices being that much higher than way back in 2006...:2tu:

I have spoken with three dealers who support this site. All three have said that if I place an order on '08 through them, the price will be invoice. Nothing more, and yes that was invoice, not MSRP. Plus shipping (but one is close enough for me to drive it home to start the break in process:drive: ) and taxes.

I wanted a CTS-V when they first came out and a new Z06 as well and had deposits in hand when I walked into the showrooms. Two different GM dealers did the same thing to me asking $7500 over list for the CTS-V and $12500 over list for the Z06...I told them my price which gave them list price and a nice weekly paycheck for the salesmen and both told me I was crazy.....I walked out and said:

"Don't you dare call me later this year when both these cars or ones like it are stuck on your lot, or I will insult you!"

Sure enough, both dealers called and tried to offer me the cars under list price and both of them heard a lot of expletitives from my end and a promise never to "grace their doors" again.

It is my sincere hope that the Dodge dealers don't do this to us and our new membership to come and sell as many Vipers as they can produce at list price or $1 below just to restore some faith in our domestic auto industry.

Regards,
Aaron

Chris--That would be great--a bit of skepticism on this end, as you can tell!!! We will just have to wait and see--impatient me!! I'm really hoping you are correct. ~juli~

I think Chris is correct, that the price will not go up much for the 2008, but then there will be many options not available in the past that could get it up there, yet I do not see it even approaching 100K.

Example :
1. New interior ( price ?)
2. Radio surround bezel ( price ?)
3. Navigation if done later in the model year ( price ?)
4. Sirius was done last year at $195 and likely will be the same when it becomes available.

We have heard that the Razor and the H spoke will be upgraded rims ( I would guess at the same $700 up pricing ), with the 5 spoke as standard, stripes will likely stay at the $3000 level, so even a fully loaded Coupe would likely come in around 95K , I would think ---- this is all pure conjecture, as no, I do not know the actual prices.

I don't believe we will see the data, magazine spreads , etc. until about the time the car comes out, then all heck will break loose, as this will be the King of the Mountain again!!!

I think that's where the price confusion comes in, probably will be around $85k MSRP base, but with the expanded options, e.g., stripes, etc., many will see $90-95k MSRPs - just depends on which versions you are looking at.

Thank you Bill for chiming in....we rely on your word, as well as the other knowledgeable folks/dealers on these forums. Will be great if MSRP is around $85,000; then adding the options upping the price, gas guzzler tax, etc...we just will have to see. I thank you for your input! ~juli~

I would be willing to bet that the base will be $90K and options that will bring the car to MRSP just under $100K (fully loaded).

There is no other real competition for the Viper in this price range anyway. The Vette is no competition and there is no Ford GT anymore. You are either a Vette fan or a Viper fan. An extra $5K to $8K is simply not going to change the production numbers of the 08 Viper. Want 600HP in American muscle car (sports car), there is only one factory car in this media, excluding all the rich boy exotics, like the S7, etc.

Basically they can charge what they want.

Bill, The price of the new one doesn't concern me as much as how much you want difference to trade mine in.:2tu:

I talked with my dealer today, one of the dealers who support this site, and I don't think you will buy at invoice. You may buy at MSRP, but not invoice. They are not getting the allocation they were in the past. Different people in control in the Motor City. And our big supporting dealers will not be able to fill all their orders....bad news for the VCA. Bend over for some big time prices from the rest of the dealers.
