    Nice quote from Ralph

Yeah, fit & finish-- the body panel gaps are a tad large on these cars. But, when I bought mine I was looking for a car that would make you sweat just a bit from the rawness and muscle of it... haven't had that in a car since I sold my '70 Charger R/T 440 many years ago. Honestly I was getting...

    Vipair Suspension Setup...anyone???

Can anyone tell us what the stock spring rates are for Gen III and Gen IV (non-ACR)? Inquiring dolts want to know... :crazy2:

    Nearly a 10 In My Mildy Modified 06 Viper - 11.19 @123.80 - A Heartbreaker Read On

Re: Nearly a 10 In My Mildy Modified 06 Viper - 11.19 @123.80 - A Heartbreaker Read Yes there is a large metal fuel filter under the car, back by the tank. I was staring at it while changing the rear end and thinking, "What a stupid place to put the filter for ease of maintenance". It's...

2003 Gen 3 viper What do you think would be the best performance Mods?

Good advice above... I have run up against 16-20 year-olds at the kart track that were phenomenal drivers, but they'd been racing since birth or thereabouts. :smirk: So out on a track, youth can be helpful, but on the public roads, with all the unexpected pitfalls, wisdom and years of...

    Coolant Flush, Fill, Burping...Gen III

Also, when you use that bleeder valve, it is a good idea to hook up a long length of tubing into some container. Service manual advises not to douse the serpentine belt with coolant.

    Brake rotor question

I don't think it's a coincidence that the worn groove is at the end of the machined groove. Channeling of abrasive debris is building up at that point and wearing the rotors. Have them cross-drilled an the problem will go away. Kidding, but it would be nice if Stop-Tech would address this...

    oil cooler lines length

I did mine a couple months ago (2005 Gen3). I started with two 2-foot lengths and cut to fit after installing the engine side fitting and checking for length. As stated above, one of the lines (from the forward oil cooler fitting) is just a tad short of two feet, so three feet is not enough...

Car value when changing wheel color

Black chrome is a tasteful touch, IMO. Another point though, with plain black powder coated wheels, it is a very racetrack oriented look, and about half the buyers won't like it (I'm talking plain black, no pinstripe, no polished lip, no nothing). So while on an ACR plain black is the...

destroyed silver SRT10 near Harrisburg, PA

Yes, hopefully no injuries. From this limited view it looks like an awfully straight piece of road to be "losing control" on. Makes you wonder what kind of moves this guy was making... OTOH, maybe some squid in a hot-rodded Prius just went for it and cut him off. Yeah, that's it. Viewing...

What's an 08 Viper with 48,000 miles worth?

24k is "high mileage"??? What is this , Lambo-Land? OK, 8k miles a year is more than I drive mine, but sheesh. I was looking at some '07 Porsche Caymans last winter and the mileage standards were much higher, so we must be firmly in exotic territory with the Viper. Hate having that voice in...

Buying a new Viper (or any other car)?

Obviously as soon as you go to sell the car the year matters a lot. While it's nice to get a zero mileage leftover car, as soon as you drive it off, it falls in with rest of the used '08s (when you price it out on something like the KBB). So in a sense, new vehicles remaining in a dealership...

    So long for now..

Most guys on this forum have "fixed" the shortcomings of the Gen III themselves with aftermarket mods. Things like an MGW short shifter, Motons or KWs, a crossover-less exhaust, and some engine bolt-ons, go a long way to narrow the gap between the Gen 3 & Gen 4. Who drives a stock Viper...

Next gen Viper discussed in AutoWeek...scary!!

Chuck is probably right. In gov't and in business they have found it works best to gradually creep up on removing things that people like (or adding restrictions). Slowly, over time, things can get worse without any dramatic changes that would cause a revolt. I mean, if all the civil...

Driver door locks itself every time I get out

In the meantime, I would keep a spare key stored hidden in the engine compartment somewhere (black duck tape works well here). I've always found it a little odd that the Viper hood and gas cap don't have an interior release mech, but it comes in handy in this case.

Next gen Viper discussed in AutoWeek...scary!!

Good point, George. I know a lot of guys that will readily spend $40-60k on a new car (or truck!), but over $75k and the market shrinks a lot, even among the folks who can easily afford a sports car in that range. Unfortunately for the die-hard purists, most guys in that high price range want...

    Battery death

It is virtually impossible for a low amperage trickle charger to significantly heat a working Viper-sized battery, so your guess is probably correct. I've seen significant heating from a 25-amp charger, but not from a 1-to-2 amp tender. Something is seriously amiss in that battery...

    WILBER SHOCKS- Anyone use them?

They do fit, and both are made by Dynamic Suspension/Multimatic. It is the same shock with slightly different spring rates and valving, according to the Viper tech I talked with. Dynamic makes some really trick stuff for racing (CART, IndyCar, etc.), but unfortunately the Viper shocks are...

Window Regulator -GEN 3/4 Archilles Heel

There is a thread or two on repairing those regulators. One other thing to look for is whether the glass is hanging up on the triangular rubber seal at the front lower corner of the window. On some cars, as the window raises the glass misses the slot in the rubber slightly and folds the rubber...

Coupon orders for the Gen V

It's interesting these days that there are literally dozens of choices for new cars over $100k, yet only a very small percentage of the population can afford that class of vehicles. It looks like car manufacturers have figured something out. I once was a partner in an automotive speed shop...
