11/15 mpg around town. 21/22 mpg hwy. (with 3.33 gears.) The harder you drive the lower your mileage. Mileage can be somewhat improved by keeping your RPM's down complements of the huge low end torque the motor produces.
ab, is this the same dealer that has the Viper tech with the bad attitude? I think you would do well to be looking for a new service facility before you get really stuck!
General consensus is that nothing works better than the stock RC12LYC Champion plugs, unless you have detonation problems, in which case you might try a cooler NGK FR5-1. I like to change mine about every 8 to 10 thousand miles. I can Get Champions usually for about a dollar each. Platinum...
Re: What\'s the FFSA Viper?
"FFSA" has a web site. Do you read French? (I don't) Perhaps you might find somthing there. Try www.ffsa.org
If you do a web search of "FFSA VIPER" you should get some hits as well. Hope this helps.
I agree with you Hisstoy. I was suggesting that it is extremely easy to siphon gas from a Viper, that's all. Something to consider the next time the price of gas goes outa sight! A locking cap keeps the good stuff in, and the bad stuff out.(JD)
The Factory Manual suggests the following for my 97 GTS (Should be the same for your GTS as well):
1. Release fuel system pressure.
2. Insert a 1/4" syphon (max O.D. 5/16) hose from portable fuel siphoning tank through the filler neck opening into the fuel tank.
3. Drain fuel from fuel tank...
First of all, remember that many of the early GTS's were sold for inflated prices that were driven by demand. My 1997 MSRP sticker showed a suggested retail price of $66000, Add optional equipment: Stripes $1200, Polished aluminum wheels $300 and a gas guzzler tax $3000 plus $700 destination...
All of your points are true. That's part of what makes this car such a kick! Thank goodness you weren't entertaining buying a AC Shelby Cobra. Obviously it's not your kind of ride. No big deal. Go find something more to your liking. I've owned a '65 Sunbeam Tiger, '69 AMX, ,73 Pantera, to name...
A GTS door is suspended by a single hinge that has a up and down, in and out, and forward and aft adjustment. If you have doubts about the integrity of the doors or hinges, I would suggest you visit a body shop for a accurate assessment of the problem. A good body shop should be able to adjust...
Hay Tony, would you understand the description "850lb organically fired vibrator?" "We fly em slow and shift em low" and they last forever. My parts guy has been in business since 1903! Some may laugh, but you never throw a used Harley away......pa..ta..do..pa..ta..do..
Just for the record, no deposit was required of me when H.M.S. built my 650R back in the early spring of 1999. I paid for the work when it was completed. The car was delivered back (late) but within two months of the agreed completion date. Since that time, H.M.S has stood behind it's 3 year...
Patrick, The gear/speed chart can be found at www.orbitdevelopment.com/viper/gears.asp Just change the differential ratio to your specs and select "manual" then "show gear chart". Have FUN!
Re: HMS offering \"No Money Down\" !?
No Rock, this is not a new H.M.S policy. After all, H.M.S or any other shop for that matter (if they have your car) could could put a "mechanics lean" on the car until the bill is paid if necessary. A healthy business should only need your car as collateral...
More valves = more cost & eventually more maintenance. Where else can you find this kind of performance for the price? Go ahead and spend the extra $$$ and we will probably still out perform you.
Ok. Now I'm jealous! Looks great John. Very original, but not for long I suspect.! I think Zero should add this to it's list of goodies. How about the Colorado Region raffling one of these babies off for a fund raiser?....(JD)
Nope, the photo did not make the trip John. Now you got me curious about your new goody. I warned you about Viper withdrawal when the car sits with out a motor .
The drain plug is located on the right (passenger side) of the transmission tail housing. The fill plug is located on the left (drivers side) of the transmission housing. The transmission is full when the fluid level is even with the bottom of the fill hole.
Not really, but I use 32 psi F&R. This is personal taste for my own driving. Some use more. Practically no one uses less than 29. Be warned that tire pressures due effect your cars handling significantly! Try the "search" feature for tires & tire pressure.
You might try Northwind Engineering for the wing used on the factory built '96 GTSR's. The link to the site can be found at the bottom of the VCA home page.
O.K.,let me redirect my above question to Mr. Roe. Sean, do you recomend the use of your VEC1 unit with either the stock or modified type PCM units when used on moded engines like the 650R?
