Go to most any auto parts store, they check the codes for free (they hope you buy the needed parts there). Or just buy a OBD2 code reader. Plug and play very easy and comes with the codes book.
You can buy a code reader from Harbor Freight tools cheap. I bought one it works great I have used it on my Viper and a half a dozen other cars and it's ben great. Reads the codes, displays what they are and you can clear them too. This is the one I have. It's on sale! http://www.harborfreight.com/can-obd-ii-deluxe-scan-tool-60693.html
