Thanks for the reply Nexus-6. My 97 GTS has 51K miles on it. I am familiar with what you discribe, but this is not a "normal" moderate condition. The jerking gets so bad at times, I have to completely back off the throttle, push in the clutch, and wait for the engine to settle out! Granted,I...
Searching for a solution to a low speed running problem. The car has a tendency to "lope" at low RPM causing a jerky driving condition. Changed all the plugs. Checked all the ignition wires etc and now am out of ideas. Recalling that the Generation "I" had a similar problem that related to...
I too use the "Hot Dawg" unit. I call it the "bun warmer". It heats roughly 2000 sq. ft. for me & Works great. The unit is quiet, & does not take up much space.
A word of CAUTION here. You might want to re-consider wrapping your cats and sills. You can heat dammage your cats by wrapping them, and sills have been known to catch fire when wrapped! Anyone els have some input here like Lee Dove or Jon B ?
IMO, High Temp paint or ceramic coating is a better option. Wrap works, but is a pain in the a$$ to put on and will probably promote heat burn out to your headers.
As much as I love my Viper, most of the junk at the Auto show is a fine example of how out of touch U.S. car builders are with the real needs of the future auto market. Does the world really need a motorcycle that travels mach.o4 and gets worse mileage than a SUV? No wonder the U.S. is loosing...
My heart goes out to you. I too hate oil leaks. After owning a few British cars and a few Harleys, I have learned to preserver. Viper engines for the most part don't leak. I too had to replace my oil pan gasket. Most of the oil was covering the bottom of the car in that case. After discovering...
You will be limiting your ability to carry on a conversation in the car for one Hand in hand with this problem may be a "db maximum" noise limit enforced by your state DMV in order to pass inspections!
CNTW84U: Sorry to say, this behavior is "the nature of the beast". Your computer has a built in program which drops the throttle idle in 2 stages to provide smooth shifting and better emissions. The system stinks IMO but you can't defeat it. It is a non delete part of the engine's computer...
Cold air is a real kick. My engine loves it. I would love to go dyno my car in the cold air, but the closest dynojet unit is a 300 mile drive one way over some mountains. I'll just play out here on the prairie!
Re: Timing of First Oil Change on 10 month old \"New\" Car
with out any appreciable miles on it, I doubt you should have any problem with the oil that is in the car. At about $5 quart, I would use it!
You should find a brief description of your Vehicle Theft Security System in your owners manual detailing it's components & operation. A more detailed description should be available from your dealer, or factory service manual.
I think you will find the battery disconnect only a temporary fix. More than likely the problem will return. My past experience almost always turned out to be a intake gasket leak or low battery voltage. In the unlikely event that you have a battery over 3 years old, replace it. Your car...
I have run magnacor 10.5's for the past 32,000 miles on my 650R and never had a problem with them. Great Wires. Don't know about the best price though. The wires aren't inexpensive. (JD)
Unless you have one of the older HMS (514cid) stroker motors, you are probably running stock pistons. HMS was not modifying the blocks in his later engines. My '97 650R was built by HMS in the spring of '00 and has a stock block and bottom end.
Well, I just got word that the Viper Tech I have been using here in Great Falls for the last 5 years is moving out of state. Any one here on the board know of a Viper Tech in the state of Montana?
You may not be crazy! Do you have a B&M "Ripper" shifter, or the stock unit? B&M's have been known to fail in a similar manor when a welded component in the lower shifter mechanism breaks loose. This happened on a '98 unit I had. I opted to replace the defective unit with a new one that B&M had...
My 97 GTS is about to turn 50,000 miles. I got wondering about when the original serpentine belt should be replaced. Looked in the owners manual for a recommendation, but found nothing. Any suggestions?
